Why would anyone sign Devin Hester?
Why not?

He fits the bill as one of the greatest kickoff/punt returners in NFL history, still has some left in the tank, and can also be thrown in there as a 3rd/4th option at wide receiver.

Can you imagine Julio Jones, Roddie White, and Devin Hester all on the field at one time?

Kickoffs are bullshite formalities just like extra points these days, so he's pretty much useless.
Is this a joke? Useless?

BTW, Trindon Holliday 2012 disagrees with the "Kickoffs are bullshite formalities" statement.

Devin Hester has never been a threat as a WR. Sorry. Return specialist...well...that's a different story. I think he'll be solid there for the Falcons, but probably won't have much impact at receiver. Is Harry Douglas still there? If so, he's a better 3rd WR option IMO.

Hester was ranked #6 in average yards per kickoff return in 2013 with 27.6 yards per return.(of players who qualified) He had a long of 80 yards and no touchdowns. LINK

He did not qualify for punt returns (not sure how many attempts qualifies you) but was ranked #7 with an average of 14.2 yards per return. He had a long of 81 yards and 1 touchdown. LINK

Hester was ranked #10 in average yards per kickoff return in 2012 with 25.9 yards per return.(of players who qualified) He had a long of 40 yards and no touchdowns. LINK

For punts in 2012 he was ranked #22 with an average of 8.3 yards per return. He had a long of 44 yards and no touchdowns. LINK

Hester did not record a catch and rushed for 6 yards in the last 2 seasons.

The Falcons ranked #10 in average yards per kickoff return with 24.4 yards per return last year with a long of 50 yards and no touchdowns. They ranked #20 in average yards per punt return with 8.3 yards per return with a long of 28 yards and 0 touchdowns

Hester should be an upgrade in both kickoff and punt returns, however his contributions with the offense I will have to see to believe.

He's proven he can't play receiver so ya'll should've signed Trindon if you were looking for a KR/Jet Sweep man

Great bump. Hester has come in handy when destroying probably the worst team in the league.

Falcons looked super last week

Don't really need one, losing to the Browns is enough of a joke.
