Yes you were

It's funny that a bandwagon fan is lecturing us on who the real fans are.

For sure. And they're both equally hotheaded.

Because bandwagon fans remain faithful after Dennis Erickson and the FO completely dismantle their team. Bandwagon fans love 6+ years without a winning record. Right. The first SB that childhood amnesia didn't remove from my memory was the Cowboys/Steelers in '95. I literally do not remember the Niners winning a Super Bowl. But I'm a bandwagon fan?

Maybe you just think you're cool or special because you can say you support a team that's awful through thick and thin. Guess what? I can too. So you can shove the bandwagon label up your arse as you're watching the Playoffs at home like I am.

Call it lecturing or whatever you want, just because you support a shitty team that's never been good and I support a shitty team that's been very good doesn't mean it's beyond me to inform you that you're not as good fans as the Saints faithful.

It's beyond you to "inform" me of it because you are a bandwagon fan. Also, it's completely wrong.

Of a team that hasn't won a championship in 15 years? I'm currently a bandwagon fan of a team that hasn't had a winning record since 2002? Hilarious.

So what is your reason for being a fan of a team that's thousands of miles away?

They've sold out every game of their existence. We had an awesome atmosphere during the first 3-4 years until the disaster that was the 2005 season. It picked up after that but after continuously blowing opportunities to become a good team the fans have become complacent after eight seasons - just like 95 percent of other fanbases would. So you see some empty seats after a chokejob.

No one. I wasn't really an NFL fan.

I don't need one. I've supported them since before I had any clue as to how good a team they had been. From childhood to present. I became hooked to them and spent my early grade school years writing stories about them. I had no clue at the time such elementary things such as how many Super Bowls they had won. They were just a team and I liked them. The fact that their uniforms were red (my favorite color) (realistically) probably had more effect on why I liked them than their past success, which at the time of my earliest fandom I was too young to understand.

What's the reason for being a fan of a team that happens to be located in or around your own city? Is that more proper in your eyes?

What's the reason for being a fan of anything?

Civic pride. Camaraderie with your friends and neighbors.

Ok, then where did your support for the Warriors come from?

* taking pride in your home town
* going to local sporting events/spending time with family at these events
* supporting your city financially
* sharing rooting interests with friends and family who also share the affiliation with the home town team

this is a pretty dumb question

I have plenty of camaraderie with the many Niner friends I've met over the years attending games. Many of my hardcore Saints friends find it refreshing that I'm as passionate as they are but wear different colors.

My camaraderie with my United Nations of my closest friends who are diehards of a plethora of teams runs extremely deep. In fact, the simple fact that we're all fans of different teams leads to so much interesting discussion and makes so many games fun. That's the epitome of brotherhood. I find myself more engaged with many other teams, I learn more about my friends' teams, and we all have fun in the process.

And the greatest feeling is finding a proud Niner fan in gear in LA on a random day. Without sounding like I have the ghey, you share a special bond. Go visit Vancouver and find a guy in Texans gear and tell me you don't feel awesome.

Being a Niners fan exposed me to GSW. Simple as that.

And don't accuse me of being a bandwagon GSW fan, they've been garbage forever.

These are fine reasons. Why can't I have my own? What makes supporting local teams more special than others?
