Expanding playoff from 4 to 8 teams

I think 4 is not enough, 8 is just right. Would keep more fanbases interested longer.

Right. 8 would bring the suggestion for 12 and so on. Let's expand to 96. Oh wait, that's what the regular season is for. Don't lose to Iowa, or Pitt or get housed by 39 and your team might be top four.

No. We need to protect the regular season. Don't want football to become shitty like basketball where no one really gives a frick until the tournament.

8 is perfect because you still have to protect the regular season lol that's ridiculous, but it also gives the teams with 2 and maybe even 3 loses a chance to win which would be great. 8 wouldn't ruin a thing.

Other than it fricking sucks?
Betting and fantasy football are what is driving the NFL.
CFB is unique. If I want to see the NFL I will turn on the NFL.
I don't want to see 3 loss teams in a CFB playoff any more than I want to see a 9-7 team in the NFL playoff.

Yeah. Quite a few actually.
But in the context of the OP:
No one really gives a shite about games till maybe games 12-13 or so.
Part of what makes CFB amazing is how much is on the line every week, and the emotion from players and the fanbase as a result.

You guys really want to see the top teams resting starters at the end of the year because they know they will be in the playoff regardless? Because that is exactly what will happen.
