2012 Army Navy

Skip fwd to the 2:30:00 mark of the game and watch it until about 2:40:00.

Here's the set up- Army hasn't beaten in a gazillion years. Army is led by a senior QB whose last name is Steelman (perfect name for an Army QB). For 4 years he's tried to beat his school's rival and now he's leading his team, in his final year to a long-awaited victory. And then it happens....

In a world of high school juniors tweeting about their top 20 finalist schools being considered to be blessed with their talents for the next 3 years or multi-million dollar coaches showing off waterfalls in the locker rooms.......you also have these guys. Gary summed it up best during the game - "football is the easiest thing these guys do during their careers at the academy".

On a sidenote, we all give Verne and Gary crap for some of their calls, but these 10 minutes are pretty much perfection. Very little talking. They just let the scenes speak for themselves. When they did speak, it was impactful.

Looking forward to the game this weekend!

Man so close. Hopefully this is the year. All that being said I get what you are saying about the Steelman kid, but I wouldn't be thrilled to have an officer lead me into battle taht can't hold it together after losing a football game. Im sure that's not a popular opinion, but I hate when dudes cry over sporting events. Its a fricking game.

True.

But it's 4 years of blood and sweat to win that ONE game.

This isn't Vanderbilt losing to Kentucky or something.

Military doesn't forget anything - this would have been on his resume for his career up the chain. A hero, the QB who finally beat Navy.

I'm sure they know it's not life and death more than anyone else knows what's not life and death...and after graduation, it gets real.

But at the Academy, this is their prep for military service, war, etc. And the Army/Navy game means everything to each Academy.

and that's the thing. This is the last time nearly all of them will ever play football again, and in the biggest game they'll ever play and ever have played. It's a lot more emotional for these guys knowing this is it for them.

As an Air Force vet, I hope this game ends in a 0-0 tie with nothing but gaffes on both sides

Both are legends and the best in the business. Those who disagree suck cocks by choice...or so I've heard.

Navy was looking ahead of their conference championship game to the Army game. That should tell you what it means to the players. Beating Army is more important to them than winning the AAC.

The last Army Quarterback to win a bowl game was given a General Grade Article 15 as a result of what happened in Iraq in 2003 and forced out.

He was a BZ Major and BZ LTC selection, 1st look CSL.

But many are right that this means far more to Academy grads than anyone else.

Beating Army is everything.

I am cool with 1-11 with a win over Army vice 11-1 with a loss to Army.

Beat Army.

And piss off, Zoomie.
