The SEC is the beneficiary in this case but the issue is primary one of attention and media techniques. Modern media isn't generally made for insightful analysis or thorough commentary. Entertainment is the goal and careful discussion is not the objective. So whether they are talking about Jeter and the Yankees, Kobe and the Lakers, Lebron and the Cavs or the SEC their business model is based on hyper attention to certain subjects until they are chewed, processed and redefined in a way that only partially resembles the starting product.

Anyway, yes they should cover more about teams from outside of the SEC when there are other prominent teams of interest from around the country like FSU, OU, tOSU, MSU, Oregon, ND etc. I do think the SEC deserves more attention but not this much more.
