It's absurd.
Elvin Hayes never playing less than 80 games in his 16 seasons did not stop him ,nor Kareem, nor Wilt etc...from winning rings. Nor Jordan 11 of 15 seasons playing 80 plus games effect his ring winning ability.
One can manage minutes without sitting PrimeTime or showcase games.

So we have a season that runs roughly 8-9 months but you think rodeo and Mardi Gras is a big problem with schedule.

They paid 600 million to the NFL for rights to broadcast 6 wild card playoff games. They lost $75 million on the first year. They cant sustain these contracts.

I don't know if that's true but assuming that it is... pretty damning from a health and safety perspective. It's very daft to force them to play as well because a season long injury to a star doesn't help the league either.
I know people don't care but in my industry people force unsafe behavior for near term money. It rarely works out well as unsafe practices cause bad results eventually.
I've read the link to this data ,but need more information than that . Non contact or contact injuries? Major or minor injuries?
Kawhi Leonard & Kevin Durant were recently injured on road games after back to backs & are now one of these statistics.
Leonard got an elbow to the head & Durant's own teammate was thrown into his leg.
These injuries had nothing to do with back to back game fatigue & could have happened opening night.

But my point still stands. Durant's fluke injury & Kawhi Leonard elbow to the head after both playing back to back road games had nothing to do with fatigue. They are now back to back game injury stats.
If you're going to base sitting players on
Data( dating back 3 seasons ) I just need more information. What type of injuries? Are they fatigue related? Contact or Non contact?
Or complete fluke injuries like Leonard & Durant that could happen any time.

Wait, WTF is rodeo a problem with the schedule?
It has near zero impact on downtown. They have 6 home games during rodeo season
Edit: apparently San Antonio has a smaller rodeo. Means more home games the rest of the year
Mardi gras is an issue for about a week. Big deal

Wise people don't take blind data & pretend it's flawless/ The Gospels. This study only goes back to 2012 anyway & who knows what injuries are reported. A lot of bruised Labia injuries going around since 2012 in the new NBA.
Give us a serious study on the type of injuries reported/ seriousness,etc.......& not just compiled data.

It's smaller than Houston's rodeo, of course, but it basically kicks out the Spurs from the Texas-Sized Phone Booth for the majority of February, and I'm pretty sure is the longest annual road trip in the Association.

If the Spurs, Rockets or any other team with an extended road trip don't like it, they can build their own arena without public money and make their own scheduling decisions.
