Why? To avoid offending people. And yes, this is a real story.

quote:

In a story that seems made for The Onion, but is actually true, according to multiple Outkick fans inside ESPN MSESPN decided to pull an Asian college football announcer named Robert Lee off the William and Mary at University of Virginia college football game because they were concerned that having an ASIAN FOOTBALL ANNOUNCER NAMED ROBERT LEE would be offensive to some viewers.

Did I mention that Robert Lee is Asian?

Is this even real life anymore? This might even be worse than MSESPN apologizing for the fantasy football slave draft a couple of weeks ago.

A buddy of mine was set to do color for the game with this guy. He called this happening several days ago.

He's been replaced with former airline pilot turned announcer Ho Lee Fuk.

Thing is, my buddy doing color is a big, white, bald headed guy. Easily looks like a skinhead. Can't make this stuff up.

How is this not racist in itself?

I hope that he is on the line with the ACLU as we speak. ESPN is going to have to sleep in the bed they made.

They aren't doing stuff like this because people are ACTUALLY offended. They are doing stuff like this to avoid the media spillover from people who are pretend offended.

Hardly anyone is actually offended by shite like this. And if you are, you're likely suffering from a mental illness. People just pretend they are offended to get attention. Or they're like that guy on twitter who demanded Macklemore to denounce his haircut just to gain exposure for his twitter handle and possibly further his career.

It's all fake outrage.

Love ESPN's reply
quote:

UPDATE: ESPN ISSUES OFFICIAL STATEMENT:

“We collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name. In that moment it felt right to all parties. It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play by play for a football game has become an issue.”

ESPN needs to collapse into oblivion. Why the hell are they acting like this is no big deal? This story is so freaking retarded. I'm hardly ever triggered by anything, but this might do it for me.

Seriously... frick ESPN.

Think it's time to pull the plug. I'll avoid watching college football if it means not ever giving them a dime again.
