The NBA is close to deal with New Orleans officials to move the 2017 All-Star Game to the city, ESPN has confirmed.

The game is scheduled to take place on Feb. 19, 2017. A formal announcement is expected to take place next week, according to the Baton Rouge Advocate, which first reported the story.

Weren't they just in New Orleans? I have no idea why the NBA isn't choosing a city that hasn't hosted in a while

Well they passed a law allowing establishments to not serve you if they want just because you are gay. I believe either an owner and/or someone high up in the NBA is gay so they didn't want anything to do with it let alone the sponsors wanting nothing to do with it. They have a right to hold this game where they want just like NC can pass the laws they want.

it's not really close either

and folks should be glad if walk-ons is closed for repairs again. Only about 1000 other places in NOLA to eat with better food etc...I mean it's a souped up applebees, gtfo over being upset at that. A Lucky Dog is a better deal.

But I know African Americans do love the applebees/chili's vibe thing, maybe Im wrong on this one......mmmm Riblets

Absolutely, I've eaten at Walk-Ons twice and it sucked both times. I guess if you aren't from Louisiana, you may think it's good food. Hell, people even eat at Red Lobster and Joe's Crab Shack in Baton Rouge.

Because it's short notice and they know Nola will pull it off. Probably won't get another one for a very long time.

As far as I know, that isn't what the law is. The law they passed has to do with transgendered people and only allowing them to use the bathroom that corresponds with their sex and not their new gender.

Meaning, Caitlyn Jenner would have to use the men's room and not the women's.

A buddy of mine who works in the restaurants said that he had gotten word that the other possible locations were all pretty much booked for that weekend.

Thats what they are trying to sell it as, but its really allows for discrimination on other levels as the previous poster stated
