I have not done any particular research, but wouldn't Mel Ott be a better choice than Lou Brock for a baseball representative? Both HOF but I would say Ott had stronger La. ties. Giving some significance to the strength of ties to the state:
Eddie Robinson (VERY hard to argue against)
Pete Maravich (better college player than Shaq and stronger La. ties)
Karl Malone (grew up in and went to school in La. - huge career stats - MVP)
Terry Bradshaw (strong La. ties - MVP - 4 rings)
* I could see Peyton taking over Bradshaw's spot by the time he is done, but for now TB gets the nod with the 4 rings and stronger La. ties (since Peyton went to TN).
* A reasonable argument could be made for Petit over Malone, but I will go with the guy I actually say play and pick Malone.
Something weird: it seems like there are fewer LSU players on the list than you would think.
Another something weird: The most iconic La. athlete, Billy Cannon, probably does not make the cut.
