Been watching this morning and the highlights from last nights Rockets/Lakers game arecomical. they are 99% LA., and the Rockets didn't win the game, the Lakers lost it according to First Take. Kobe didn't face two good wing defenders last night he just played bad. Oh and the best, in the interview with jeff Van Gundy the ESPN guy asks Jeff if he actually thinks the Rockets can "take this series to 6 with LA, and maybe even 7" and he asked it in a dead serious tone. Give me a fricking break. Look I know LA is the best team in the NBA, i'm not disputing that but give credit where credit is due. The Rockets are not a middle of the road NBA team they are one of the best in the league and went into LA's house last night and BEAT them plain and simple. Save all that LA lost it crap cause they got flat out beat. I hate when the Rockets play teams with explosive offenses and beat them but it's only because the other team "shot poorly", and never because the Rockets have been one of the best defensive teams in the league since JVG came in and implimented his system. Well done Rockets, big win!!

They don't hate the Rockets, they just suck off the perennial powerhouses which is true. LA, Boston, NYY, USC get more coverage and BJ's from ESPN than other teams around the league but this from a Rockets fan is just getting wierd. Not one segment is about the Rockets playing well, everything is LA lost and Phil says it's ok they just had a hicup.

I didn't see what ESPN had to say or anything, but LA definitely played their worst game in a while last night. They played horribly and still had a reasonable chance to win it. The Rockets HAD to win last night because if the Lakers were going to play that bad and win, it would have shattered Houston's confidence. That being said, I still like the Lakers in 6.

That's partially my point though. Rockets shot poorly from 3 just like LA did, they got no production out of Luis Scola or Von Wafer. They played far from their best but that doesn't matter because LA played bad. Both teams played a physical game and both played good D but the Rockets was better. Rockets controlled that game from the opening tip.

Agreed. And TT22, I got nothing personal against the Rockets. I'm not a big Artest fan, haven't ever been, but besides them playing my favorite team I don't actively seek to diss the Rockets. Ask Ghazi, him and the Mav's or much less tolerable than the Rocket fans. I've been to at least 15 games of theirs this season and haven't once openly cheered against the Rockets while doing so....

I'm a basketball fan and enjoy the shite talking man, that's it. It could be the Spurs, the Mavs, the f'ing Grizzlies against the Lakers I'd still join in.

Yea I think the Lakers bj's going around is kind of funny as well. I'm not saying the Rockets are going to win the series now, because IMO, the Lakers will win 1 in houston, so H-town will need to get another in LA, which is easier said than done of course.

Battier shot poorly, as did Scola and Wafer. I think the Rockets match up very well, but if you asked the announcers you would have thought the Lakers were just waiting to blow it open in the 4th on demand

i think last night's Rockets win opens this series up drastically. the Rockets now have home court on LA. Before last night if I had to take a pick and live by it I would have said Lakers in 6 but now with what winning a game in LA this series is a toss up. LA is a very good road team so it won't suprise me if the win in Houston but they are going to have to earn it. I could see LA still winning in 6 but 7 is more likely however I can also see Houston winning in 6 or 7. This is going to be a good series

As weird as when you guys had Dream and won a couple of titles and were all over ESPN?

I get what you're saying but at the same time they have to appeal to a national audience. Sure Houston is a good team and yes they beat LA. If they say LA lost the game more than Houston won are you going to stop watching? Nope.

Bingo. Not saying Houston didn't flat out beat LA last night but that was a wake up call to Kobe. If Houston can keep him shooting jumpers like last night I say Rockets win the series. Pau is a joke and they did a good job last night containing Odom. LA is a good solid team but they can't bang like Houston.

the lakers aren't as good when kobe tries to do too much and forgets his teammates. if we win tomorrow, we win the series imo.

I agree....to an extent.

When the Lakers win or play well.... it's because Kobe comes out in the first half agressive, but yet passive in a sense, to get the rest of the team rolling. Passing up shots he normally would take to let the others get theirs. Once his supporting cast is warmed up and keeping the Lakers ahead or the game close, Phil will momentarily rest Kobe in 4th, then unleash him in the last 7-8 minutes, depending on the score, to either put a dagger in the other team or to win the game from behind.

Seeing how I don't actively root for the Rockets, I'm sure the rocket fans will probably all tell me i'm wrong,....but that's my opinion on the strategy of Phil and Kobe.

15 years ago when the 8-seed Lakers beat the 1-seed Suns in the first round, it was 99% Phx losing...what do those two teams have in common?
