I don't know why they're moving away from Foles so soon. He looked like he had a lot of potential. I get that Mariota fits Kelly's system perfectly, but still...

It's not like it could have been kept a secret. As soon as Philly made an offer to TB/Tennessee, they would have let all of the other teams know about it so as to increase competition.

To me Mariota seems like someone who fits the category the Eagles would want to grab, but who isn't necessarily the best example of the category.
In other words, I think trading up to get that type of QB makes sense in theory, I just don't have the confidence in Mariota.

I don't blame them. Being able to draft a QB to run your system that you know he will be successful in makes a lot of sense. Now let's see it really happen

Let's all be reminded on what the Redskins gave up to move from the 6th spot to the 2nd spot...
Redskins get: 2nd-overall pick (2012)
Rams get: 2nd-overall pick (2014)
6th-overall pick (2012)
22nd-overall pick (2013)
39th-overall pick (2012)
They had to swap 1st rounders and give an additional 2 1st round draft picks and 1 2nd round draft pick.

Shady is coming off of his worst season and would have a nearly $10m cap hit next season. He has very little value. Foles has maybe a second round value. It would take a lot more than that.

I think Kelly is going to be under some heat if he doesnt make the playoffs this year. If he can get Marriota, he thinks he can make a run.
