So career percentages don't matter?
Perspective son. Different game now than it was 10, 20, 30, 40, and so on years ago.
What's your point moron? Brees is playing "now."
Posted on 7/18/13 at 12:21 pm to REG861
My point is he is a product of the modern NFL and that if he started playing 10/20/30/40 years earlier than he did, his career percentage would be horseshite.

Matt Ryan was the most accurate quarterback in the league and is easily better than your boy right now?

So, by your demented logic, all modern quarterbacks would have shittier career percentages if they played 40 years ago (or a whopping decade ago..but for someone like you who hasn't reached a full 2 decades, that probably seems like a long time). Guess that applies to Matty Ice, as well. Brilliant!

I love how you think this is some big "GOTCHA" moment when I never said otherwise.
So what do you think about the fact that Matt Ryan is not only a more accurate passer than your boy, but an overall better quarterback as well?

What are you laughing about? Matt Ryan has the higher completion %, the higher QBR, the higher QB rating, and a higher AV (tied for 4th in the league).

I'll quote you on this one:

You posted one year. Check his entire career scrub.

Let me know when Brees throws 11 touchdowns to no interceptions in the playoffs.
His playoff stats are actually incredible.
9 games, record of 5-4
67% COMP
2980 YARDS/ 331.1 YPG
22 TD
4 INT
104 RTG
Yea, that guy is some slouch.

Meant to say right now. Right now, Ryan and Flacco > Brees (along with Rodgers, Manning, and Brady).
A former NFL qb agrees with me, outside of fellow Saintards, who you got?

I don't care about you (or Jaws's) opinion.
I came into this thread to refute your bullshite.
Brees slipped last year, Flacco and Ryan improved. No denying that. I think most recognize that. I think Ryan is a good QB, who deserves to be mentioned in that high tier along with Brees/Brady/Rogers/Manning etc.
But when you say stupid shite like "Brees is historically among the worst downfield passers"...you deserve to be mocked.

Don't worry playboy, I'm sure he will soon refute you with his new stat, Total Passing Percentage.

I misquoted you. I'm sure you'll argue semantics now.
Point being, you provided no stats or facts when you made that statement.
And before you say I only provided one year and not his career numbers:
LINK
You can click through the years and see his Air YPA. Saints years he's mostly in the top-15. Chargers years are far lower. I'm not going through each season and averaging it out to get his career numbers, but it's pretty clear he would not have

You sound really fricking stupid.
Flacco had an incredible post season, all-time great post-season at that, and he has won playoff games. However, Brees has been outstanding in postseason play as well. Brees however has been MUCH better in the regular season than Flacco, including this past season, which was a fluke year for the Saints. Flacco has also been apart of teams with very good defenses, cannot say the same for Brees.
Matt Ryan had a good season, but in comparison to Brees' it really wasn't much better than his at all when you look at overall statistics. Brees had a lower completion percentage and a higher interception total due to the fact that there lacked fluid play-calling. Brees is one of the most accurate passers of all time, and likely would have been at around a 67% comp. rate or higher this year with Payton. The team was lost all year after going through unprescedented punishments that destroyed their high level of play and continuity. It hurt Brees and the entire team not having Payton there, and you can't say otherwise. Just the season before, Brees and the Saints had arguably the greatest offense of all time, of all time. I don't even need to get into comparing Ryan and Brees as far as postseason because that is a fricking joke.
Ryan and Flacco are both very good, but not to the level of Brees. Will they get there? Maybe, but they aren't yet. If you want to place Manning, Brady and Rodgers ahead of Brees, go for it, but placing Flacco and Ryan ahead of him is Leo from What's Eating Gilbert Grape on the retard spectrum.
Brees > Ryan/Flacco and he will continue to show that this season. If not for being a broke college student I'd take your stupid bet of 1k that the Saints make the playoffs too. You act like they are done when they have damn near the entire offense intact that was apart of the best offense ever. The defense will be OK, and that's all they need. The Saints will be right back in the mix. I just hope you return to eat some crow.

The beat was when he was going on about Brees's career downfield passing average. He then provides a link to a site...that doesn't have career downfield passing averages. None that I can find at least. Perhaps he found them, and won't post them because it would refute his bullshite claim.

But you agree, that he makes a living off of volume passing, no?
