I feel sorry for the local businesses. They are showing people just smashing all of the windows downtown, ripping apart all of the blinds and going inside to steal stuff to burn.

In 2001 I was in downtown Denver when the Avs won the Cup in a game 7. A strange combo of drunken trust fund kids and Mexicans started destroying Larimer Square and breaking windows and cars. I was teargassed.

What an ignorant twat...saying that these are images that we'd expect to see in a large American city but not in Vancouver. I was in New Orleans after the Super Bowl...didn't see any there. Saw plenty in Vancouver in 1994, 2010 and again tonight.

If anybody has CBC they are showing a couple of police cars getting destroyed by a bunch of people. They are just smashing them with bats, jumping on top of them, etc.
