Listening to Mike/Mike this morning their all lathered up about Silver dropping the boom on Sterling now puts pressure on Goodell and Snyder to do something about the "offensive" Redskins name. They referenced the Harry Reid comments from above. With the way the country is going, you would think Reid would have more to do than worry about the name of a football team.

The Redskins name isn't going to change. Danny boy already wrote a letter to us redskins fans that was a big frick you to the NFL.

If Reid is focused on the Redskins (which isn't changing), then he can't destroy America any more than he and other politicans already are. It's a good thing because it's meaningless.

I'm upset Mike isn't focused on his Alma Mater "fighting Irish." That is a horrible stereotype that I think we should be beyond in this day and age.

I doubt it will change, high schools and colleges use the same type of names. They've been dealing with the same issues and haven't changed.

I personally think teams should get rid of Rebels before and type of Indian name usage. Teams use a name to embrace who they are and representing. Representing the history of Indians/Tribes is more politically correct than representing slavery/Secession from the United States.

Goodell is a puppet for the owners. He takes the heat for their decisions. Snyder has one of the deeper pockets in the league, which means he can do what he wants unless all the other owners turned on him

Bahaha

Too bad, Jerr-uh Jones is a good bit smarter than that. He might be a shitty GM, but business wise he is pretty savvy.

they had a big lawyer on some show and he claimed all the NBA can do is fine and suspend him.

If they try to make him sell or ban him for an asinine amount of time, Sterling would crush the NBA in court and end up getting paid a nice settlement for their actions.

But don't underestimate the Head Boob in charge(obama), it wouldn't shock me to see him use the DOJ/IRS to try and push Sterling into selling.

Sterling needs to stay strong and fight it.

Sterling can sell for a shite ton because he'd have people fighting each other to buy that team.

Wait until 1 big national sponsor makes it an issue. . . and then another. . . and then the NFL won't have a choice.
I say 3 years.

Here's an idea for all of the people "offended" by the Redskins name, either root against Washington, or move to another contitnent if it bothers you that much.

I think all Silver's move did was put more pressure on himself by the standard he just set. Will have the same view of players like Kobe Bryant who used a homophobic slur towards an official? I read a newspaper headline from the NBA that said "NBA No. Bigots. Allowed.". If thats their new stance then fine, but they better be consistent or i think things could get really out of control with the PC crowd. Will they have the balls to stand up to guys like Kobe Bryant? Will there be more pressure then ever to ban the N word now? Silver just set the bar really really high. If he doesnt live up to his own words, then the NBA will look really bad. Just my opinion.

No. The players were behind Silver and wanted him to crush Sterling. Only a vocal minority of idiots with white guilt want to change the 'skins name.

I think I will make the Redskins my second favorite team after the Saints just for political reasons. I'll even put my money where my mouth is and buy something with the team name on it.

I've been keeping up with them because I like RGIII. He was kind of a little bitch last year, but they are probably my 3rd favorite time in the league right now (behind Saints and 49ers).

The fact that PC people get so riled up by their name is just an added bonus to liking them.

Hmm...the terms of the agreement and just about every other legal analyst says differently.

Everywhere I'm reading says Sterling won't even be able to get this to court, due to the language in the owner's agreement.

He can, but it'll most likely be a short, quick victory for the league.

So, the idea isn't to, ya know, not be racist?

Nah, Silver put a ton of pressure on himself. How will he handle the next situation like this?
