Does Mark Cuban even care about the Mavericks anymore?

This team shows few signs of being a playoff contender, and it appears all Cuban wants to do is make even more money without being interested in competing for an NBA title even a few years down the road.
Is he even willing to pay a competitive salary to a high draft pick they should receive after this terrible season ends?

Mark Cuban is a poorer, dumber, cheesier version of Donald Trump.

Pat Riley has balls. Mark Cuban does not.

Wel if you knew anything about the Mavs, you would know this is apparently the first year Cuban has admitted that the draft is the only way for the team to get better.
It just took him 5-6 years of striking out w/ FA's to get here.
It's been a mainstay w/ local media as of late. We are full on tank mode.

He kept trying to land a superstar to pair with Dirk every year for the past several offseasons. He had to settle for guys like Wesley Matthews and Chandler Parsons when he struck out. I think they're finally accepting that Dallas and Dirk are not going to attract big FAs and now they're gonna try the draft.

They're tanking, bro. what do you expect him to do?

He just agreed to pay Harrison Barnes over 20 million a year. Yes, I'd say he's willing to pay for players. By the way, rookie salaries are pretty much predetermined so he really doesn't have to worry about "paying a competitive salary to a high draft pick."

Who was the last player that the Mavs drafted and developed into a solid player?

They've been stuck in 6-8th seed hell where it's very hard to get a true star player
They've had fine role players the last few years but they needed (still need) an alpha and you can't get that through the draft when you're winning 45-50 games every year

Teams still have to pay up to a salary floor (think it's 90% of the cap) so he has to spend on someone.

We constantly traded them away.
There was a time a few years ago when we were making huge push for Dwight Howard where we were in line to draft the Greek Freak.
Donnie Nelson had scouted him for years and wanted him, but Cuban decided to trade down to save cap space.
It's shitty moves like that, that have us where we are now.

Jesus Christ. The Mavs are going to finish under 500 for the first time since 99-00 and y'all are accusing the owner of apathy?
Honestly, I'm thrilled Cuban didn't tank and kept trying to keep the team competitive until the very end of Dirk's run. First off, it showed creativity by constantly rebuilding the supporting cast, and tanking is the coward's way and not nearly as effective as people think. You should never write off a season before it starts. It's a betrayal of the fans, who spend a lot of money on tickets.
I think after 15 consecutive winning seasons, the Mavs are entitled to a clunker without throwing the front office under the bus.
