Not that they can openly tout that to recruits but it kinda goes without saying you can walk down any block in Boulder and buy some weed.

Still against NCAA rules to use, regardless of state laws.

You could walk down any street in Boulder 40 years ago and buy weed too.

Not true. I had to ride my bike almost 2 full miles to get some yesterday

It has to help, but at the same time most elite college athletes are black. I find it hard to believe those same individuals want the 90-something percent white community and weather that comes along with living in Boulder

True, but they don't have to worry about criminal charges for possession.

What about Cal and Stanford?

They have a lot of dispensaries in San Francisco and anybody can get a medicinal license, anyone.

Or Los Angeles?

I was in Boulder 3 weeks ago. A simple walk around campus (white chicks) could seal the deal for me.

Are there NCAA guidelines for testing for weed? Is it up to the school? The conference? Also as far as consequences....is that up to the school or is there NCAA oversight?

Most players really don't care to be honest.

I said NCAA test.... Only had 1 guy from our team in 4 years get tested, and it was at the NCAA tourney. We were tested at least once a semester by LSU

Schools do not have to have a drug policy, BUT, if they do they must enforce their rules or it is a violation. I know that makes no sense but that is the rule.

The NCAA also test on its own, but it is extremely infrequent and usually at post season events.

If you fail a school test, you usually are forced into counseling for strike 1 with no missed time, miss a few games for strike 2, and are gone pecan for strike 3.(this is all dependent on your schools specific policy, but this is pretty much the standard)

If you fail an NCAA test, you are suspended for 365 days automatically

We got tested quarterly and every post season by NCAA for street and anabolics.

As it was supposedly random it wasn't because same guys always were tested

The school administered tests were monthly based on quarterly or arrests

Sounds like the NCAA is still sticking it to SMU then. I don't ever remember them coming to LSU at all

Wasn't SMU it was at SMS and the whole valley was tested that way, it wasn't their rule either. We had a reputation in baseball for juicing deservedly so though. I know Cepicky and Burkhardt juiced. The cleanest two guys Howard and Hart were always tested

I'm guessing the guys who would choose where they go to school and where they play football based on their ability to smoke weed don't have the best work ethic or brains
