A Midwestern State football player died Tuesday from injuries he suffered while making a tackle in a game Saturday.
Cornerback Robert Grays, a sophomore from Houston, was injured with about 3½ minutes to go in the Mustangs' 35-13 home win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He was the second college football player to die this week. College of Wooster offensive lineman Clayton Geib, 21, died Sunday, a day after the school said he was "complaining that he did not feel well" after the Fighting Scots' 38-20 victory over Ohio Wesleyan in Wooster, Ohio.
The Fighting Scots plan to honor Geib, from London, Ohio, by having only 10 players take the field for the first play of Saturday's game at Division III DePauw University.
No cause of death for him yet. RIP

If that was my teammate I don't know that I could continue to play football.
That stuff would mess with my head big time.

Awful news on both accounts.
It's crazy how vital the spinal cord is to life.

Me too. This story really reinforces how scary neck injuries are and anytime a football player doesnt get up right away after a hit.
Makes me think back to Zac Etheridge's neck injury vs Ole Miss in 09. He's so lucky the Ole Miss player under him didnt move. He could have easily died that day or at least been paralyzed, but because of the quick thinking of the Ole Miss player he not only lived and can walk, but was able to come back and play football again the next season and now has his own career in college coaching. That is a miracle. If I was Zac I would have to call up Rodney Scott and thank him again after reading this story.

I hate reading these but that's a legit risk of playing football and it's known now a days.

Midwestern State
Sounds like the name of a fictional university that Saved by the Bell students might attend.
