ETA: obviously attendance has gone up, but even when losing the Saints were drawing well.

Are you people fricking high? I mean you can lie all you want, but that won't make the truth any less real. The Saints couldn't sell out the dome for most of the 90s.

don't argue Saints fans about attendance... They all claim they've been going years and always a sell out. Even when they would put black tarp on upper deck seating to ensure the sell out.

Yeh i dont get all the lies the Saints fans have been posting in here. Look, i am a diehard Saints and LSU fan, but to say the Saints have a more loyal fanbase is ridiculous. My whole childhood in the 90's was spent listening to their games on the radio because they were blacked out. And think about this, LSU routinely has over 100,000 people on campus for over 8 hours on gamedays. Even in the Hallman years LSU was still known for the best tailgating. NFL teams will never have the loyalty college teams do. It doesnt make the NFL worse, it is just different. As an LSU and Saint fan, i do notice that some Saints fans hate LSU fans for some reason as well

Talking to a native New Orleanian (or whatever) who is a saints fan and "casual" LSU fan. We were talking about the Falcons/Saints rivalry and he brought up the LSU/Tulane "rivalry"

Saints fans don't live in Shreveport. Advantage Saints fans.

I'm a life long saints fans from shreveport and have plenty of friends and family that are as well. There are plenty of bandwagon saints fans there too.

When LSU played on a monday night campus was packed all day with over 100,000 people tailgating. When the Saints play on Monday that doesnt happen at all. Big time college programs are 100 times more involved then NFL teams. It isnt a knock on the Saints or any other NFL team, thats just the way it is. I am a fan of both and love them each in their own respective way

See, I've seen it in reverse. Not necessarily 'hate,' but Saints support in Baton Rouge in my experience has been very tepid. Most people I know from New Orleans are supportive of LSU, even if they didn't go there (Bama fans excluded )

when your fanbase is consisted of mostly college kids that only have to go to class the next morning with the game basically in your backyard, yea I can see why the turnout is greater, but if LSU wasn't playing on Saturdays every week, the out of towners would stop showing up in droves

that is my point

And your point would be wrong. If LSU was forced to play on Sundays, there would still be 100,000 tailgaters and 92,000 in the stadium. Big time college teams will always have a bigger following. It is simply a fact. This has nothing to do with LSU vs the saints. It is the same for the Falcons and Uga and Ohio state and the bengals

well I mean, that's just like your opinion, since we have 1 single Monday NIGHT game as evidence

Minus the trolling aspect, Has anyone pointed out that Niners fans are the second trashiest fan base narrowly behind the Oakland Raiders?

I don't think Saints fans are as annoying to watch a game with. Most LSU fans I know, every play that we don't score it's either because the refs missed a call or our players aren't worth a shite.

I don't know, man. Some NFL teams have monster following. Patriots, Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, Redskins. Around here, I'll agree that LSU has more fans. Some of the teams in those huge markets have nationwide followings. Most college teams are regional.

Im not talking about market size or money made. We were talking about loyalty and passion. For example, the steelers make more money and have a wider fanbase than Lsu football, but the steelers dont have 120,000+ tailgating every single home game and another 30,000+ traveling to away games

As a fan of both, what the hell are you talking about. Who exactly has owned LSU?
