Did the Committee just kind of "give up" after the top 10?

If you look at the rankings over the past 3 weeks or so, after the top 10 it's a complete cluster of blah.

Florida lost 2 weeks in a row by 21+ points and moved all the way from 15 to 17. Tenn. moved from 17 to 22 after losing to an average Vanderbilt team.

I'm surprised Iowa didn't end up in the poll for example, as they have had a good past few weeks and shown great improvement. Does the ranking really not matter after the top 10 and the one non-power 5 rep?

Maybe so.

But it's time to stop thinking about rankings in terms of "moving" from week to week.

I think so. There've been some really odd ranking patterns. It's like they forgot that those still determine the rest of the Big 6 bowls.

This. You don't have to drop just because you lose a game.

I actually think the committee does fine with top four teams.

However, what you mention about the lack of that same attention to around #10 through #25 has been my beef with them.

They don't seem to apply the same metrics of playing a tougher schedule + quality wins etc to the bottom of the Top25 that they do the first few teams.

Sometimes that can even affect the top of the polls too since it means more or less Top25 wins for different teams when that is already such and arbitrary cut off point.

It's hard to rank teams that you've never watched and don't pay any attention to.

One team has been screwed more than all the others. Let's compare some records.

#14 Auburn: 8-4, wins over Top 25: #20 LSU
#17 Florida: 8-4, wins over Top 25: #20 LSU
#20 LSU: 7-4, wins over Top 25: 0.

And now, the most disrespected team in the rankings:

#23 Pittsburg: 8-4, wins over Top 25: #2 Clemson (12-1), #5 Penn State (11-2)

Pitt's losses were not bad: #12 Oklahoma State (9-3), #22 Virginia Tech (9-3), North Carolina (8-4), and Miami (8-4). They did beat GaTech (8-4) as well.

Florida lost their last 2 games 81-24. Are they really #17?

Yes. Look no further than #11 Florida State and #13 Louisville. Both 9-3, Louisville won head to head 63-20.

Yeah for some reason I can't get over that. But Louisville lost to Kentucky and they are not good at all.
