It's not a good idea. It's stupid to say.

However "totally disgusting"? definitely not

Are you really going to say with a straight face that you believe it's actually true recruiting would have been hurt if one of the best players in women's college basketball was open about being gay when a large percentage of the athletes in said sport are also gay? Really?

So if we aren't to believe Griner when she said Mulkey told her not to talk about sexuality because it hurts recruiting can we believe Griner at all?

Seems like you want to believe Griner was told not to talk about sexuality but at the same time don't want to believe Griner when she says it was because of recruiting.

I just don't understand how any educated adult could think saying something like that was a good idea.

Read her comments about playing A&M after their move to the SEC. (PARAPHRASED - "You don't sleep with someone after you divorce them")

The only reason she even gets this kind of pass is because she's a woman. I'm not one to really get into the double standard thing, but this is as bad of an example as you'll find.

If a male coach said that, particularly a male coach of a male sport, he'd be unemployed today due to the public response.

Yeah, she's been saying stupid shite for over a decade now Including way back when she was Kim Mulkey-Robertson (shocked that marriage dissolved, let me tell you ).

Baylor is such a trash institution when it comes to sports. And I have a sister who is a baylor student right now.

To my shame.

I know she's robersons mother but somebodiy needs to slap her in the face. what the frick is wrong with America these days? people have a right to speak. it's the fricking first amendment. advocating hitting people for expressing their opinion is so facist.

No, I don't doubt that Mulkey told Griner that but that doesn't mean that I think that explanation for why she should have kept quiet holds water.

It would be like telling a softball player that she can't talk about being gay in the media b/c it might scare off other softball recruits.

In other words, the explanation Mulkey gave her makes zero sense b/c there are simply too many gay women playing college basketball for that to possibly be true. It's far more likely Mulkey lied to BG than told her the real reason why she shouldn't talk about her sexuality.

Considering Baylor is a school so conservative dances weren't allowed until the 90s I think you should be able to deduce the real reason they wanted her to keep quiet.

I remember when UofL beat #1 Baylor in the 2013 NCAA Tournament and she acted out of control

I remember when she was a bitchy sore loser after A&M knocked them out of the NCAA Tournament in 2011, complaining that it was unfair that they had to play a team four times in one season.
