Yes. And this is why I hate when Shaq gets mad because he doesn't do what Shaq does. But Dwight Howard was ridiculously athletic in Orlando. He was as good as prime Ben Wallace defensively, and he could jump out of the gym. It's crazy to think that the Dwight Howard I watch in Houston was the same guy doing Super Man dunks at the dunk contest.

Howard doesn't have the coordination to be a skilled center. I really don't think it's about work ethic there. I just think he doesn't have it. His left hand is just embarrassingly bad. But all of that aside, when he was relying on his athleticism alone, he was unreal.

as in the team didn't do as well as people hoped? sure, but he was far from failing on an individual performance level

Don't try, man. He's a lost cause.

I mean if you compare it to what he was doing in 2008 and 2009 then fine, that's stupid, but fine. but what he did in 2013 considering his back problems was pretty great

Discerning fans realize this, of course.

I agree. And it's clear that when he is feeling healthy, he is still capable of that. I have seen it a few times early this season, and he was pretty damn good in the playoffs last season. I actually think that he chooses to fight through the pain in a playoff atmosphere, but he tries to save his body during regular games, which is a pretty instinctive thing to do.

Total screwjob.

1. your numbers are wrong, b/c you used Howard's per game stats and Rose's per 36 minutes. Rose scored 25 per game, 24.1 per 36. Howard scored 22.9 per game, and 21.9 per 36. Thats just either stupid, or outright deceitful.

2. Chicago won 10 more games that year which always get taken into consideration.

I promise I didn't mean to do that.

I just grabbed them off basketball reference. But I'm still sticking with my opinion.

Say wha?

I've never heard that one before, you only hear the exact opposite of that, actually.

I'm not a Dwight fan but that team's best players besides Dwight were Turkoglu and Jameer Nelson. That ain't the 96 Bulls.

If we are being honest.

LeBron James deserved it more

People were just still pissed off about "The Decision"

27\7\7 on 51% shooting.

D Rose got it mostly bc of his team. He turned around (well.. really Thibodeau turned around) the Bulls from a .500 team to the #1 seed in the NBA

D Rose should have gone been 3rd in voting behind LeBron and Dwight. Dwight winning it would have made perfect sense though.

This too. The point is that Rose had no business winning that year, so in my opinion, it doesn't hold a lot of weight. Didn't Bill Simmons do an article where he redid all of the MVPs a couple of years ago?

Don't get me wrong, I think Rose had a very good season that year on the best team in the East during the regular season. He still wasn't as good as Lebron though. I'm not sure Simmons reranked the MVPs, but he did some sort of weight to the trophy to try and show how dominant the player was.

I think Rose's award is similar to the Oscars, when someone who had won already probably had the best performance, but not by much. So they decide to give the award to the person who transformed his or herself into a different role.

Except LeBron clearly should have won

Lebron: 26.7 pts, 7.5 reb, 7.0 assists.
