From the first NBA MVP, former LSU and Hawks star Bob Pettit through Karl Malone, who won the Maurice Podoloff trophy in 1999, every Hall-eligible candidate who has won the NBA's Most Valuable Player trophy -- 20 men in all -- is in the Hall of Fame.

Shaq
Iverson
Duncan
Garnett
Nash
Kobe
Dirk
Lebron

are all locks for the HOF. Durant would most likely be in if he retired today.

But what about D-Rose? With him being shelved for the remainder of this year with another knee injury, if he remains a shell of his 2011 self, will he be enshrined in Springfield?

The only comparable career for an NBA MVP is Walton...but he single-handedly led a team to a title

Rose's career stats:
College stats vacated
0 Olympic appearances due to injury
2 FIBA World Cup Gold Medals
2011 NBA MVP
2009 NBA Rookie of the Year
3 NBA All-Star Appearances
2011 All-NBA First Team

That's pretty much it.

Career stats of 20.5 pts, 6.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 turnovers, 0.8 steals per game.

He is 96th in scoring among active NBA players.

I think he's out. Pretty remarkable. People accuse me of being a Rockets homer, but I said it back then (username LSUSportsR4me). Dwight Howard deserved the MVP that year. It's one of the biggest screw jobs in my opinion. Nash over Shaq is the other one that comes to mind. A dominant center is so much more valuable than a great point guard in the NBA.

frick off, dude. It's relevant to the discussion.

Dwight Howard: 22.9 pts, 14.5 rbs, 2.4 blocks

Derrick Rose: 24.1 pts, 7.4 assists

Total screwjob.

Dammit

I missed out on the Arkla Missy/Bluegrass Belle throwdown earlier tonight, so I was hoping to make up for it

The guy who honestly deserved the regular season MVP was Lebron. He averaged 27, 7.5, and 7. He didn't win because people hated that he went to the super team and people were tired of voting for him.

yeah I didn't know y'all were beefin'....Southwest heating up.

I like Memphis to go to The Finals. As Simmons said..they're The Not frickin' Around Crew this year.

I just think it's funny that RTR gets so pissed whenever I bring up the Rockets. He brings up the Grizzlies, you bring up the Spurs. And the Dwight Howard MVP thing cracks me up the most because I literally have argued this, even when I loathed Howard in LA. It has absolutely nothing to do with him being a Rocket.

Dwight is not that good brah

He was propped up by a very good team that went to the finals in Orlando

He's failed in LAL and failed in Houston now

Wherever the Rockets go in 2015 playoffs is because of Harden....no one else. Howard's career is more than likely over.

This too. The point is that Rose had no business winning that year, so in my opinion, it doesn't hold a lot of weight. Didn't Bill Simmons do an article where he redid all of the MVPs a couple of years ago?

Not disagreeing with you about him now. I think his knees are likely gone. But you are forgetting how ridiculous he was in Orlando. That team was not good, dude. Jameer Nelson, Rashard Lewis, and Hedo Turkoglu had no business being in the NBA Finals in 2009. Dwight did that.

Well just as easily as you can say

I can say

That's like saying the Mavs were trash and Dirk carried them to a title.

No. Dirk was solid but Dallas won because of the sum of the parts like JJ, Chandler, Marion, Kidd, Stevenson, Butler, Terry, Peja, Brewer

Dwight didn't suddenly get worse when he left Orlando. He suddenly got worse after back surgery, and then the rest of his body started to fall apart.

Agree to disagree

I just never thought he was as good as people made him out to be

I also never got the 7-footer domination love. He's like 6-9 with socks
