Dan Le Batard says Derek Jeter was 'beside himself angry' over viral interview because he didn't know he would have to do it with Alex Rodriguez

quote:

A recent interview on CNBC with Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, in which the pair thought they were going to promote their charity work, became painfully awkward and went viral when they were asked about their relationship, love lives, and buying the Miami Marlins.

quote:

Jeter, who is famously quiet about his private life and known for rarely divulging much during interviews, was indeed angry after the interview, according to Dan Le Batard of ESPN. However, according to Le Batard, the thing that angered Jeter the most was having to do the interview with A-Rod in the first place. "I actually learned, factually, that Jeter was beside himself angry at that interview he had to do with Alex Rodriguez, first and foremost, because nobody told him he'd have to be sitting there next to Alex Rodriguez," Le Batard said on his radio show. It is unclear where the miscommunication originated, whether it was between CNBC and Jeter or between Jeter and his team of handlers.

Jeter wasn't half the shortstop A-Rod was. Alex also earned $150 million more than Jeets

But he played SS for almost 3 times as long so it kind of balances out in the end.

Watching the NY media fawn over Jeter for 15 years was nauseating.

OMG, this is the greatest play ever. It's like Willie Mays basket catch, Griffey over the wall and Kirk Gibson's HR.!!!!!! And it's better than Bo throwing out Harold Reynolds from the warning track! Jeter is the GOAT of GOATs!

Pretty sure the NY Post would know more than Le Batard and they don't mention any hate.

Jeter has always been a bitch about this.

But I don't know if I believe LeBatard either.

ETA: That interview was awesome. The interview guy was terrible at his job.

I still don't understand why he cut that ball and shoveled it? It would've one hopped straight to the catcher a lot faster.

Also, A-rod in his prime and not roided up was a better short stop than Jeter.

So this is what sports reporting has come to? Reporters quoting reporters?

Jesus.

Jeter cut it off bc the ball wasn't thrown hard enough to actually reach the catcher. The ball would have two-three hopped the catcher had Jeter not cut it off and shoveled it, and the run would have been safe. Jeter made a great play.

I disagree and Posada's play was much more impressive. I don't get the Jeter bj fest. I mean he was good borderline great but people act like he was a legend.

Espn has been living off this for years. Get one insider or ex-player to say something slightly inflammatory and boom 12 hr news cycle on all platforms.

Jeter and Torre could have made the NYC transition easier for Arod in my opinion. A lot of early negative press could have been avoided entirely, not to discount the damage Arod did himself, but they could have done more.

People act like he was a legend because he is a legend. Dude was the SS and captain of the most polarizing MLB team for 20 years, considered to be the face of baseball, gold glove winner, member of the 3000 hits club; the list goes on.

He's also having his number retired this weekend, last single digit number to be retired for the Yankees. He will be a first ballot hall of famer.

Yeah Derek Jeter is a legend of MLB baseball; sorry you're too ignorant to admit that

Why are you pretty sure about that?

Also, your link is from 1 week ago, I think LeBatard shared that info recently, so maybe it came to light after May 3rd's NY Post article?
