See it's like you're allergic to talking about titles it's really bizarre. See most players at least once have teams that can be elite but actually getting it done takes special players. That's why Arod hit under .200 most of his post season life while Jeter excelled. Why doesn't it matter that Jeter and the Yankees beat those great Mariners teams why can't it be a feather in his cap for beating Barry Bonds when both teams were good enough to share that stage? The difference is once you're in position guys like Jeter make the plays and get the hits. If you don't get that just think on it awhile. Of course there are exceptions some guys are doomed to play on bad teams their whole career but you can't make that excuse for every player that doesn't win a title.

You stat boys of course have an argument I'm not saying you don't but you generalize everything instead if examining each situation with detail or context.

Jeter was a great player who did many great things. I think he is obviously a top 5-7 Yankee all time and one of the top 25-30 all time. A lot of what the team accomplished is because of him and you will hear former teammates say as much.

You have to consider the era in which other Yankee greats played as well. Does anyone actually think Ruth would have been anywhere near as good even in the 90s? I don't.

Meh, I'm not I'm comparing them to their peers. Jeter, Nomar, ARod, Tejada all were the prime SS during Jeters hey day. Cal was moving to 3rd, Larkin was on his way out. I do think ARod was the best of them but I put Jeter at #2 after that.
