DeMarcus Cousins asked the Kings for a trade a month ago, according to Dave Carmichael of KHTK Sports in Sacramento.
This news doesn't come as a huge surprise as the Kings have reportedly been investigating trade scenarios for Cousins. We'll keep an eye out for updates, but this situation has the potential to get uglier before it is resolved.

No way, RTR has been posting all kinds of twitter posts proving he wants to be burried in Sacramento.

Boogie better strap in. It should take a god father offer for a offensive player of his caliber who is under contract until 2018 and is making 15.7M this upcoming season.

Dear God dude. I just posted that apparently this has been a thing between him and Karl since the hire was made.

Meh. If you dump your girlfriend because she hasn't talked to you in two weeks, did you really do the dumping?

I think Karl has done everything in his power to force Cousins out. Like Jesse says in Breaking Bad, "If he can't kill us, he's going to make us wish we were dead."

You see the thing Zach Lowe quoted on twitter earlier? Such an odd situation.

So the coach wants him traded, the player wants to be traded, but the GM and ownership don't want to trade him.

Who do you side with? Id rather fire Karl and find a new coach than get rid of Boogie.

If he really wants out, how does that make sense?

He didnt want out until they fired the coach he liked and brought in a guy he hasn't talked to since the end of the season. Rather fix that situation then try to replace my All-NBA center

You act like this just started 5 months ago when Karl was hired. He has been a pain since he got there. I love his game but I'm confident that he will never win in Sacramento. A change of scenery would look good on him.

Sadano said Boogie was bitching to reporters in Orlando about how Karl's offense made it easier for teams to guard him. This was a week or two after Karl was hired

Sounds like he has had an issue from the onset. I'm sure it's frustrating as a coach when a player won't buy in to what you're selling

It's probably just as frustrating for the player if he's then being put in unfavorable spots.

And the coach refuses to listen to you. Apparently Karl is not a fan of player input.

A poster on r/NBA has a neat theory about the entire situation and it seems plausible enough imo. I didn't realize Dan Fegan is Cousins' agent until I read this. For those that don't know, Fegan is Dwight Howard's agent and it was heavily rumored that Fegan was pulling a lot of the strings during Dwightmare with an endgame of a trade to Brooklyn or the Lakers.

quote:

Dan Fegan is DeMarcus Cousins' agent. In addition to being the agent for big names like John Wall, DeAndre Jordan, Ricky Rubio, and Chandler Parsons, Fegan is also Dwight Howard's agent and was responsible for orchestrating the multi-season divorce that led to Dwight becoming a Laker, aka The Dwightmare.

When rumors began to swirl about the Kings targeting George Karl as their next coach, we started to hear grumblings that DMC's camp was not happy with this development. Long-term grudges were a possible theory as to why this animosity existed. According to Sam Amick, DMC's day-to-day agent, Jarinn Akana, worked with Karl in Denver and was demoted from assistant coach to scout when Karl took over in 2005. In addition, Fegan represented Karl's son Coby for years before eventually being replaced.

After the Karl hire, Woj reported that "Dan Fegan and Jarinn Akana have no issues with Karl taking over as head coach and only wanted clarification on the franchise's repeated changing of direction in its coaching search plans this season." It's possible that DMC's camp never actually had an issue with Karl. But what if Fegan saw Karl as the perfect villain/scapegoat for his next masterpiece?

Now we get this hit-piece on George Karl. Who do you think Woj's source is for this piece? No one on the Kings benefits from this type of story. The only person who would benefit from a forced DMC trade would be Dan Fegan. By creating a villain out of George Karl, Fegan has brilliantly put the Kings in a tough spot where they essentially have two options:

1) Fire Karl, a coach you hired five months ago, and pick a new coach to appease DMC's camp.

2) Trade your 24-year-old All-Star who is on a great contract.
Either choice would be an embarrassment for the Kings in different ways.

A third choice of course would be to fight back against Fegan and these rumors, but it's hard to see how the Kings go into next season with both Karl and DMC still there. The exit of Pete D'Alessandro was supposed to signal the end of the Kings' dysfunction and so the Kings' FO are probably focused on projecting an image of normalcy now that their #1 leaker is out of the building. But now there is blood in the water and these types of stories/leaks/rumors are only going to increase in number as other teams realize that acquiring a player of DMC's caliber isn't as far-fetched as it was once thought.

Fegan has the perfect recipe: a beloved player (Boogie), a perfect villain/scapegoat (Karl), a first-time GM/decision-maker (Vlade), an owner that everyone already thinks is crazy (Vivek), and most importantly, a franchise that is already viewed as one of the most dysfunctional in the league. Whether you're ready for it or not, Fegan is about to unleash his greatest masterpiece since the Dwightmare.
TL;DR: Dan Fegan is an evil mastermind. It's 4am on the West Coast and I'm going through Sactown Royalty archives like I'm fricking Kevin Costner in JFK because I can't sleep.
