This is maybe the first Kelly move I don't get. Trade away one guy who's done well in the system and then sign someone who's coming off a massive workload to a huge contract?

Well, if you think the Eagles have broke even on the McCoy for Murray transition, he basically got a Alonso for free.

Am I wrong, or is the $21M in guaranteed money more than any other RB in the league?

Yup,

Peterson's is a nibble under that.

That's insane to me. Giving someone that much guaranteed money based off one year of production behind arguably the best O-line in the league.

Seriously, that's the kind of deal that I would have expected Jerry to sign 5 year ago.

Yep, the kind of deal that secures an 8-8 season.

In all seriousness, that's exactly the kind of deals the Cowboys were cutting 5 years ago and routinely getting ridiculed for it.

The more I think about it, the happier I am that they didn't commit to this.

I don't think they go RB in the 1st, but Duke Johnson might be sitting there in the 3rd.

I would go Yeldon before Duke, but I think Yeldon goes early.

The good thing about Peterson's contract is Minnesota has already paid all the guaranteed money that was owed. If Dallas does make a move for him, they won't be on the hook if he does flame out.

Yeah, remember that insane contract he gave Marion Barber back in 2008?

Boys need a defensive playmaker in the 1st.

Then get whats left at RB in the 2nd and 3rd.

I agree with that. I assume they will go DL in the first round but JJ will have a decision to make if, say, Melvin Gordon is still sitting there at 27.

The Cowboys need a big time pass rusher in the worst way though. I read this morning that they are kicking the tires on Greg Hardy but that would be the kind of risky move Jerrah used to jump all over. Not sure if he will now.

There are so many talented RBs coming out this year. It looks like they can definitely get a good back later in the draft as opposed to going for one in the first 2 rounds.
