frick the Mariners fans for cheering an Altuve HBP in the ninth which was assuredly intentional. And most importantly, frick Scott Servais, the softest manager in MLB.

I think we’ve rightfully bashed everyone and everything that needs to be bashed. Reality is we have four teams battling for three playoff spots right now, with the Mariners currently on the outside looking in. Taking these next two from them would obviously be huge. The final series against the D-backs will be a challenge, as they are also in the middle of a battle for a playoff spot.

In summary, it’s nut cutting time, and the Mariners need to be made a gelding.

Sweeping the Rangers with double digit run totals, then going 2-7 against the bottom two teams in the league is a level of choke I’m struggling to comprehend.

We usually suck against Kirby so my expectations are low.

Yep, if they find a way in, 2 or 6 is much better than 5.

Shoutout to Abreu for sparking the bats with that triple. Hopefully he keeps showing up.

I don't love a best of 3 series and if we have to compete to the last day of the season, we'll have to start JV on Sunday. It would set up the wild card rotation to be Javier, Framber and France.

Honestly, when I look at that graphic, I see the Astros in the ALCS, but the Orioles in the WS

I see a lot of coin flips honestly. Outside JV I don’t have any level of trust in a starter on our staff. We could easily lose a 3 game series to Minnesota

I think Toronto is really dangerous in the AL even though they’ll be in a wildcard series

Mapped it out yesterday, JV will be on regular rest Saturday. Assuming France isn't the odd man out I think the Zona series will be:

France-Gallen
JV-Kelly
Javi- TBD (Davies currently lined up based on today's probables)

So that would line JV up to start game 3 of a wild card.

Yep.

Framber would be on full, you'd have France on full with a healthy compliment of, albeit bad, long relief options to bridge, and then a full JV.

I'm trying to think through a scenario where they'd skip JV this weekend but I can't see one.

Yeah, 6 seed better than 2 or 5

If somehow things are decided by Saturday they’d probably just push JV back but I’m not sure how that’s mathematically possible

Theoretically, the Astros could have the WC wrapped up as early as end of the night Thursday with:

2 more wins in Seattle
Rangers win in Seattle on Thursday

That would put the Astros 4 up on Seattle with 3 to play for both teams. If Seattle won on Thursday but lost Friday, the wild card would still be sewn up Friday provided the Astros win tonight and tomorrow.

A split in Seattle the next 2 days with a win in Arizona on Friday and Seattle losses Thursday and Friday also secured it because it gives the Astros a 3-game lead in Seattle at the end of Friday with 2 to play.

That’s for a wild card only but they have to finish with a better record than Seattle or Toronto. If they finsh tied with Seattle or Toronto, they lose the head-to-head tiebreaker with each.

If they lose both in Seattle, buckle up and get help from Texas.

One game at a time. Just keep winning and everything else will sort itself.
