Impressive comeback last night. Sucks y'all couldn't get the W.

Did I see y'all are 2-15 against the Rangers?

That can't be right. I'm sure it's more like 2-115.

Think I saw somewhere next years schedule is released today. Not certain though it's usually around this time it comes out. I do know we are matched up with NL East for inter league. Also, hope we get opening day at home this year

I mean if y'all don't make the postseason, you could say they single handedly kept y'all out of the playoffs. Just think if y'all went just .500 against them.

I feel like a ton of the losses have been really close. I'm not going to look it up and subject myself to that abuse though

Well, at best we split the next 2. Id be ecstatic if we took the next 2.

Can't imagine the top 3 of the lineup will go 0-15 again.

They absolutely have. 7 losses to the Rangers have been by 1 run, 4 have been by 2 runs.

They've lost 2-1 three times,and 4-3 twice. Then 3-2, and 5-6.

These 1 or 2 run games that we lose to the Rangers is unbelievable.

The Rangers were a better team before the acquisitions of Beltran and Lucroy.

Luhnow only has to figure out what he can do to compete with the Rangers, and the Astros are contenders again.

We will need 2 new starters, a CF, and a professional hitter for the lineup. If they find a fix for CF that adds to the lineup and the LH Cuban works out, I think it's doable.

I wouldn't expect to see him till 2018 at the earliest. Baseball america was saying yesterday he'll likely start in A+ or A

Thx, hadn't read that.

Well, hopefully he turns into a Bregman on the mound and gets an early call up.

The starting pitching went bad when the strength of our opponents got better. For this team to have a realistic chance next year, we will need 2 quality arms to step up. Likely both will have to come from free agency. Even if it means we have to give up hope of another hitter in the lineup.

I think one of Keuchel and McCullers will not be counted on for next season due to a combination of injury and/or performance.

I think the only pitcher that has a spot in the rotation next year is Musgrove.

LMJ and Keuchel are not expected to be, but at this point, you have to be pessimistic.

Fiers and Fister are simply innings eaters.

I expect to see Devinski to get stretched out during Spring Training.

I won't be surprised if Springer gets traded in the off season. It would suck, but he would highlight a deal for a top tier SP.

Offer the Angels half your farm system and your next 10 years of draft picks and you can have Trout. That solves two of your problems.

The rest of your farm system, you can get Sale and Quintana from the White Sox.

There's a lot more outfielders in free agency compared to pitchers where there's essentially zero. I wouldn't mind trading George if we wentafter and got one of reddick/Desmond and added Joey bats encarnacion or beltran as a dh

Though imo I think we have the prospect depth to get someone without George. Either way it will hurt but overall make us stronger

Yeah, trading George may be an option because the Astros have to spend money to improve but there's no starting pitching worth spending it on. If George helps get you a top starter, you spend more money on FA bats.

Reddick, for example, is a RF who would also give a right-heavy lineup another left-handed bat. And we NEED an EE or Beltran for that DH/1B spot, especially if Yuli ends up in LF.

It's clear our front office is going to have to get creative to land an ace and the 2 most logical options would be emptying the farm or packaging Springer

I am very very worried that we won't do either one of those and will have an offseason similar to last year where we try to find a Fister or 2. It's so obvious we are very close to being able to compete for pennants and it's so obvious we can't really take that next step without improving the front end of our rotation

Hypothetical trade centered around Springer for Archer

The outlook of the team would change dramatically

Archer
Kuechel (who I believe is better than his 2016 season and not as good as his 2015. Somewhere in the middle is a solid 2 or 3)
Lance
Musgrove
Mchugh/Fiers (as much as we shite on them they would be one of the better #5 starters in the league)

Doesn't even include the pitching prospers who should be ready for call ups next season

That would solve our rotation problems without breaking the bank. Spend money on an OF and perhaps another bat for DH. If Gattis can be anything like the last month or 2 then another power bat may not be necessary
