Tough loss, but Musgrove was excellent in debut and shows bright future for the young Stro. Let's get them back tomorrow!

TOR: 2 R / 8 H / 6 LOB
HOU: 1 R / 7 H / 6 LOB

McCullers: 4.2 IP / 7 H / 2 R / 1 BB / 6 K
Musgrove: 4.1 IP / 1 H / 0 R / 1 BB / 8 K (ties MLB record for Ks in debut as reliever)

Jake's BA 0.221 tied with Gattis.
And Jake Marisnick has a better BA than these guys.

Colby Rasmus
Carlos Gomez
Jason Castro
Tyler White
Danny Worth
Preston Tucker
A.J. Reed
Colin Moran
Erik Kratz†
Alex Bregman

How do you split the series with the Blue Jays,
Correa walk off and LMJ CG SO

When does my favorite player Valbaw come back?

I think the earliest he can come off the DL is Thursday or Friday of next week.

Yep, its time for jake to be an everyday guy until his hot hitting cools down.

The pitching staff did excellent last night (cept Harris). We need Valbaw and MarWin back healthy and swinging it like they were pre-injury. I'm not holding my breathe on Gurriel. The complete flop by every single person we've called up this year has me skeptical.

Since we live in an era where every team just HAS to have a set closer (which has more to do with dollars and cents than sense, of course), you have to have the right guy for the job. He must have great stuff and great mental toughness.

Who can handle it? Not these two:

But they are good relievers. Now it's time for Giles to justify Luhnow's big trade. Let's hope he does.

Giles was the closer last night. He brought him in against their best hitters.

Statistically that is the better use of the guy you feel.is the best reliever.

Sounds nice, but we both know that's not the reason why he pitched in the 8th. It's all mental when it comes to the 9th, and we need somebody who can handle it rather than waste the previous 8 innings of work to get a lead.

We've been pretty damn lucky (and good in the other parts of the pen) to have survived as many blown saves as we have to win a few marathons like last night.

Maybe Breg's will have better luck with the knuckles and not see any sliders.

Yeah I was looking at his Fangraphs page earlier and he's seeing almost 35% sliders. Until he starts laying off those, he's not going to see much else.

Compare to:

Correa: 16%
Springer: 18%
Altuve: 15%
Gattis: 18%

ETA: Keep in mind this is a SSS

Just get us within shooting distance from the "Arlington All-stars" for this weekend so we can take 1st place in the West.

Good stat! I think Bregman is having his Tyler White-like issue we saw at the beginning of the season.

"Oh look! New found power! Nice. Now I'm gonna try to pull and crush everything."

But that's not Bregman's game. He needs to go up there and grind out counts. Slap outside pitches to right field if they work him away. Make pitchers throw those sliders for strikes before paying them any attention. He'll figure it out.

Need to win tonight with our ace on the mound at home because we have the shite brothers pitching the next two nights.

Major league sliders look like fastballs. AAA sliders look like sliders. He's being over aggressive and not recognizing pitches. He's had some good at bats coming back into the count but he's getting behind too much. If he gets ahead in counts with altube behind him he will get fastballs to mash.

Yeah, he just needs to think about being a No. 2 hole hitter (which is why Hinch needs to leave him there). You hit right in front of the MVP. Bregs has one job. Get on base for Jose.

May have had one too many adult beverages last night, but I enjoyed the W. Let's get another one.

Agree and the Tyler white comparison is legit. He's fallen in love with power. If he can hit lone drives and draw walks and occasionally jump on one he will be a great help. I hope our staff is emphasizing these things with him.

Tonite will be tough because it's a knuckleballer and all the rules go out the window
