Do we think Peacock will be the #5 when everyone is back and another starter is acquired, or would he be more valuable in the pen with Fiers in the rotation?

Peacock feels like we're playing with fire a bit. His BB/9 is a career high 5.2. That's bad. He's always had a higher than desirable walk rate but it's up there this year. It's part of the reason he's more often than not been unable to get through 6 innings or more. And you wonder how long he'll be able to pitch around all the guys he puts on base.

I prefer him in the bullpen in the role he played before. But what would yall think about a six man rotation?

Keuchel
Mccullers
Morton
Fiers
McHugh
Peacock

Send Musgrove to the pen as your long man. So long as Peacock continues to pitch effectively, you've got an extra arm and lessening the innings on a rotation with injury concerns.

six man rotation

I'm not opposed, but I think just keeping our usual 8 man pen would be better

I wouldn't be surprised (if the division lead stays like it is) that we utilize the 10 day DL a lot in the 2nd half in an effort to keep everyone fresh down the stretch

I even forgot about McHugh. But if you go to a six man wouldn't it be better to let Musgrove try to figure it out and still have Peacock in the bullpen?

Assuming he's still here. I keep thinking he ends up in the deal to get another top starting pitcher.

I'm just thinking with the big division lead and Peacock having pitched pretty well as a starter plus some of the injury concerns we have, we could afford to give everybody an extra day of rest each time through the rotation and lessen the load as we get into October. Fresh arms is a beautiful thing in the playoffs.

Yeah, I forgot to add, similar to what the Dodgers have done, although before this year it was just shuttling guys down to AAA

I mean it's possible. I just threw out the six man suggestion with the idea that Peacock is pitching well as a starter so as long as he's doing that, leave that effective starter in the rotation and give everyone the extra day.

Yeah more than likely one of those back of the rotation guys would be thrown in with the prospects.

ETA: Maybe a contender needs a cheap 4 or 5 type? We may soon have a surplus. I wouldn't mind this scouting department plucking another Yordan Alvarez from somewhere.

Helping a team like the Rockies would not be a terrible idea.

Not to pour salt in the wounds but your Dodgers are a lesson in cautious optimism for me. as good as they've been the last several years, still not even a national league pennant. I keep reminding myself that the regular season means shite once you get to the post season.

Peacock walking himself into trouble in a 6-0 game that's my one knock on how's he pitched this year.

Good news is, he probably only goes one more inning.

Bad news is, the inning will be the 3rd time through the order. Rarely good for Brad.

You have to remember that only two times in the wild card era has the team with the best record has won the world series. The playoffs are the absolute definition of a cap shoot. shite happens in 5 game series

You just want to be an organization who gets there year in, year out. That's really the only way you can realistically win one
