Point is, I think you can protect the big three (Martes, Tucker and Whitley) while still getting a Stroman or Gray type. Now that's not true about Cole or deGrom. And I personally don't want Quintana.

I have Stroman more in the Cole cost bracket, with Gray being a bit cheaper. If we could realistically get Stroman for what you proposed, including Reed, I'd be all over it.

I can understand that. I just don't think Stroman's overall stuff fits in the Cole bracket. In fact, Gray has better stuff.

I like your opinion, but disagree about what it will take to get the players mentioned. I think you VASTLY either overrate what our prospects will brings or undervalue what it will take. I hope that you are spot on. I can promise you that.

What do you think it would take to get Stroman or Gray?

I really think it's hard to judge what anyone wants these days. Everyone values prospects differently.

I think one top 25 or so guy or 2 25-100 level guys get either one of them. Then you have some other pieces attached

I think that in this market, with so many contending teams, be it real or perceived contention, looking for starting pitching, it's going to take more than we think it should to get one. I also think we'd lose our minds if the team was to stand pat with our current starting pitching, even with Keuchel and Morton back.

If they ended up going HAM with bullpen upgrades, I'd be fine with that.

ROOT ticker just read "The Astros at Rangers game is currently in a weather delay."

The obsession must end.

Damn these delays. How do you build a new stadium now without a retractable.roof.

If Keuchel and McCullers had been beacons of health in the first half then I would agree but I think with both having been injured we need a starter.

Agreed. It's not our of the realm of possibility both those guys aren't available in october. You need 1 more Gray level starter. Plus bullpen help. I still say it would be wise to rent a bat like JD Mart.

JD is going to be the best bat on the market, he'll cost a ton even if he's a rental
