Yeah, we are the same fan base that cheered when JD Martinez got punted out the door.

That said... I'd be okay with giving up that much to get Hamels if the Phillies pay a huge chunk of his salary.

Appel and Santana are two of our top seven prospects on MLB.com. Both are ranked ahead of Reed.

Still wonder what the Astros plan on doing with bregman. Is he the shortstop moving correa to 3rd?

I think Santana will develop someday. But he will need a lot of MLB at bats, and a bad team like the Phillies can afford to give them to him.

Good Qualls has returned.

He's given up a few of those dinky arse infield hits since returning.

That was dirty as hell. 2 outs his slide was only to cause damage.... No need to slide out of the baseline, it doesn't get you any closer to being safe.

That is something worth plunking someone over. Absolutely unnecessary and deliberate. frick Robertson

I went back and had to rewatch it four times. He swept past the bag but he bent his knee and moved his lead leg to the side to avoid cleating Altuve so it's hard to say. It's almost like he intentions to go in hard and then changed his mind, and when Altuve looked back at him he almost looked like he was sayin he was sorry.

His aiming point was the outside part of second. He adjusted his angle to cross over second carrying well over the inside part of the bag to take Altuves legs out.. Hit batters happen, balls run in on guys.. BUT this was dirty and ABSOLUTELY intentiona

Needless to say if they can give that up I think it's a huge win. If the Phillies lead scout is in Corpus like they're saying though I think one of Reed, Phillips, Feliz or maybe Musgrove is involved

I didn't rewatch it. My first watch and the intial replay infuriated me.

I've read so many trade rumors the last couple weeks it's hard to remember, but hasn't it been said that Phillips is on the untouchable list?

This was what I read

quote:

The Astros are determined not to trade outfield prospect Brett Phillips, who one Astros-connected person referred to as “an absolute stud” when talking to Heyman. Houston is also interested in virtually every pitcher on the market, though one notable exception is Mike Leake, as the club’s evaluators aren’t particularly high on the Reds right-hander.

So close to untouchable, but maybe getting Hamels plus them paying some of his deal would make them part with him? I dunno
