As the Astros look to win 6 in a row, we turn to none other than Scooter Feldman. Be afraid KC

Angels lost to the Rangers last night so we are only percentage points back but tied for first none the less

Martes had 9k in 5.2 innings last night in his Lancaster debut. Gave up a few runs apparently due to bad defense and a couple of his runners scored after he left the game and reliever gave up a bomb. Promising.

He was the lottery ticket in the Cosart trade.

I see us giving up a package similar of the one we gave up for Kazmir to get Samardzija. I could also see a Appel, Kemp, Santana for Kimbrel and Upton type deal to finish up our moves. Kimbrel would be under control through 2017.

Just my opinion.

Hope he can give us a little better outing than the last one.

That wouldn't be enough for one of the best closers in the game and a real good outfielder who is just in a slump. All 3 of those guys are close to being big league players but none of them are "can't miss" prospects.

@brianmctaggart: Colin Moran is batting .402 with 13 runs, 4 doubles, a triple, 3 HRs and 17 RBIs in his last 17 games at Corpus.

Moran is hitting over .300 now and even hit a few home runs in these past few games. It's kinda crazy how little power he goes for a guy his size.

They aren't going to get him for what they're willing to give up. I think they're just hoping the Phillies will cave and sell him off for cheaper than they're letting on, but I doubt that happens

Moran has a really flat swing, more of a singles and doubles hitter, that's been the knock on him, not enough power for 3B

We will learn a lot about Hamels today at Wrigley. I think he's been very unhappy with the shitty way Philly has handled things with him. If he's still the winner we think he is, he'll show it this afternoon.

Upton is a rental. Just as an example of what a rental cost the Rays gave up David Price for Drew Smyly and a minor league infielder last year.

You are probably right though, might need one more player to get both, which I'm not sure I would want to do.

Upton plans to resign with the Padres I think. He also said he doesn't want to be traded. I think he holds a lot of value there. If I'm the Padres I wouldn't give up those guys for that, maybe take out Santana and add Phillips or Reed but I don't see the Astros giving up that much.

What's the vibe on the current Astros ownership? Are they willing to shell out the money now that they have the foundation of really solid young talent?

I ask because all the Hamels talk intrigues me. A guy who is a legit starter that we could have under control for the next 4-5 years. The rotation would be scary.

Or we go after Price. Can we afford him though or would he be another rental?

Don't think the Tigers have decided what they are doing.

I think ownership will be willing to spend. They have said so. But this year wasn't expected, maybe the year after. So it depends on if Crane gives the go ahead to jump up salary quicker than they thought
