DAT 7/23: Walk off sweep! | Kazmir to Houston

Astros try to get greedy today and sweep the Red Sox out of town. Rookie phenom Lance McCullers gets the ball today against Wade Miley. Another bad Sox pitcher that we should beat up.
Encouraging trends from last night included Jabroni's 7 skrong innings, including a few more Houdini tricks. A disturbing trend was the 0-5 WRISP night the Astros had, but we can look past it.
Today's edition of rising to the occasion:

Also not sure if this was posted in the thread last night, I'll leave it here anyways
quote:
The Astros are determined not to trade outfield prospect Brett Phillips, who one Astros-connected person referred to as “an absolute stud” when talking to Heyman. Houston is also interested in virtually every pitcher on the market, though one notable exception is Mike Leake, as the club’s evaluators aren’t particularly high on the Reds right-hander.

Yeah I posted it late in the thread last night but it is worth repeating.

Just posted this in the other thread:
Brett Phillips in 24 games @ AA
.311/.360/.456, 4 2B's, 4 3B's, 1 HR, 17 RBI, 3.3 years younger than the average AA player.
It's hard not to think this guy is going to be good, at this time last year he was in Low-A ball.
ETA: Also, I've read somewhere that he may have the strongest OF arm in our Farm System.

He's come on really strong this year, i am glad they are going to keep him

Tucker, Phillips, Springer could be the outfield next year
Posted on 7/23/15 at 7:58 am to texastiger38
I could see them making another low risk Rasmus type deal for a vet to hold the spot until they call Phillips up, then that guy becomes a 4th OF who platoons some with Tucker. Springer and Phillips in the same OF will be a whole lot of tools and athleticism

Tucker at DH instead if Gattis would be nice. GATTIS IS not a good offensive player and has negative defensive value. Tucker can at least play the OF without being a total.liability when needed.

He leads the team in RBI and 2nd in HRs.Yea he sucks..Moron

You got me there. RBI really is the true measure of effectiveness. I dont buy into those new fangled stats that look at stupid things like OBP or OPS.
Posted on 7/23/15 at 8:40 am to Tiger Ryno
He is a machine when it comes to driving in runs.He is exactly what you would want in a 4 hole hitter
Posted on 7/23/15 at 8:41 am to tigrbaseball
I agree. I think if he was batting 7th he would still have the same number of RBI because he is a machine....he just smells this ribbies.
Posted on 7/23/15 at 8:43 am to Tiger Ryno
Yes his OPS sucks, but at the end of the day he is driving in the most runs. When the entire lineup has dog shite OPS, then you can't shite on the guy that at least leads with the RBI.
Otherwise you are right, but not in the context of this team.

Hinch messing with the rotation again.
@ KC
Feldman on Friday
Keuchel on Saturday
Velasquez on Sunday
Ok Feldman. You've been the anointed one. Place one in the fricking earhole on the first pitch.
There will be blood.

Feldman is a guaranteed loss at this point. I'm done with him

You're done with everybody. Everyday. Every hour.
It's really getting old broseph

Not really. But continue to perpetuate the narrative.
