So I have been thinking we need to get back in on Gerrit Cole. throw the pirates martes, fisher etc etc for him.
Dk Lance Cole Fiers with Peacock and morton moving to the pen for the playoffs seems pretty ferocious.

I'd rather overpay for Fulmer since it's obvious Detroit is selling. Ship them one of Tucker/Fisher, one of Martez/Whitely and throw in some other prospects that are blocked by Correa, Altuve, Springer and Bregman.
With Correa going down for 6-8 weeks we desperately need to get a SP who can be a TOR arm and eat innings.

Did you see what they got for JD? Colin Moran, Reymin Guduan, Max Stassi and Alejandro Garcia should satisfy Avila enough to being back Fulmer and Wilson.

I'm not saying just two guys would be enough. But you ship one of the two out of Fisher/Tucker and Martez/Whitely plus another 3 prospects or so to get a TOR arm. Fulmer/DeGrom type arm.
Cole/Gray are good pitchers, but not the same caliber of pitchers as Fulmer/DeGrom. I have a feeling we will overpay just like we did for Giles.

I get that, my point is for a low-3s ERA guy who appears to be an absolute workhorse and has 5 years of team control, prospects only won't get it done. They'll want an mlb regular

I don't think that defensive trade off is worth having one more righty in the lineup. That's just me, though.
