Yeah I can't believe Sanchez went that high. Wasn't expected to be coming to A&M but I don't people saw him going in the first at all

Maybe they're turning him loose now, since he's allegedly been working on offspeed stuff

The catcher who hits we can take is Brett Cumberland, draft eligible sophomore from Cal. He was the switch-hitting Player of the Year in the Pac-12.

quote:

He finished first in the Pac-12 with 16 home runs, 51 RBI and a .678 slugging percentage and ranked second in on-base percentage (.480) and total bases (122). He was fifth in the conference with 46 runs scored and sixth in batting average at .344.

He'll never be an elite defender but he just needs to be average with that bat.

Hooks let Martes come out for the 7th. Got 2 outs and leaves with a runner on first. Very good outing tonight.

Superb. I love that they let him throw 98 pitches. Musgrove has done the same with Fresno. It was time to start stretching our best arms out. Paulino is next.

Yeah Paulino has been good. Martes should be in Fresno to close out the year at least

Paulino will get to AAA before Martes unless Martes does better throwing more pitches per outing. Paulino has been dominating this year.

The cardinals should have had to atleast forfeit one of their picks for hacking us.

They had 2 picks in the 30's

Whitley with 109 pitches thru 6 innings. 10 k. His team is up 5-2. Think they let him finish?

Luhnow better have a direct line to the Alamo Heights coach telling him to save the kid's arm.

It's the state semifinals. They will let him finish.

Crazy how young those 2 guys are. Paulino just turned 22 and Martes won't be 21 till November

Yep. At the start of the season I'm pretty sure Martes was the youngest pitcher in the Texas league.

With those two and Musgrove, that shows why it was easy to go with a prep arm tonight. There is no rush for top flight starting pitching with that trio on the cusp. Plus, more stud Latin arms in the system behind them.

He threw over 60 innings before today so it's not like his hs team is trying to limit his innings. He probably won't throw more than 10 innings in the minors this year.

I can't believe how selfish some coaches are with kids arms. Parents should do the research and know better, but coaches definitely know better. That one college pitcher drafted tonight(forgot his name) pitched 10 2|3 innings in one start.

He ended up throwing 123 pitches. Thy still have another game, if it's next week I wonder if he's going to throw again.
