Any Chance Martes, Tucker or Fisher get a call up this season?

Fisher is the only one of those 3. But I think he's trade bait.

Yes, Tampa needs the help on their big league club.

I was mistaken earlier. 12 games in a row is the club record, 11 games in a row ON THE ROAD is the record we broke last night. We still need 2 more wins to set the club record. If we can win with Paulino on the mound tonight then we have a great chance with Keuchel going tomorrow.

The super 2 date is coming up. It usually this week or the next, 65th day of service. I don't feel like doing the math. He is traded if they don't call him up by then.

Hopefully, he is better than Aoki.

Mariners were 46-12 after 58 games in 2001.

What relievers interest you? I know Watson is struggling big time. Hand and Buchter on the Padres are interesting. I like Tommy Kahnle on the White Sox as well. Everyone talks about the starters but I think getting a reliever is crucial as well

Some pitching updates:

quote:

Musgrove, who had trouble moving his arm for two days after receiving a cortisone shot on Thursday, played some low-intensity catch at 70-90 feet on Monday, and said he felt no pain. Musgrove is targeting returning to the rotation on Sunday.

quote:

Worth noting • Right-hander Collin McHugh, on the disabled list since the end of spring with a posterior impingement in his right elbow, has thrown about 15-20 pitches off the mound four times -- fastballs and changeups only -- and he hopes to work in some breaking balls this week. "Once I can throw all my pitches, it's just a matter of getting a couple of bullpens under my belt, feeling comfortable enough to see some live hitters and do a live BP or two, and then go out on rehab," McHugh said. "I don't know what the timetable for that is necessarily, but it's a little clearer today than it was two weeks ago."

quote:

Right-hander Charlie Morton, on the disabled list since May 27 with a lat strain, said he will be evaluated on Tuesday to see if he can play catch for the first time since his injury. He's been getting in his running and doing upper-body exercises, but he hasn't thrown yet

Pretty astounding when you think about how awesome this Astros team has been so far.

And that team didn't feature an array of HOF talent either. I don't think anyone is there yet... but Edgar Martinez still has a shot and Ichiro is a no-doubt guy once he's eligible. Guys like Brett Boone, Mike Cameron, and John Olerud were solid big leaguers though. Their staff was led by Jamie Moyer and Freddie Garcia.

I tried to poke around fangraphs relievers stats to come up with some names the other day. My criteria was simply relievers performing well on teams that will not be contending for the playoffs.

Hand- SD
Blake Parker- LAA
Pirates and CWS have some guys like Swarzak, Felipe Rivero
Addison Reed if the Mets sell

I bet there will be many available

Houston has trailed in just 10 of 99 innings during the winning streak and outscored the opposition 89-39.

The Astros are hitting .323 during the winning streak and have homered 28 -- count 'em, 28 -- times in 11 games. Houston's 89 runs is 26 more than the next-closest team (Detroit).

Did we witness the end of Tony Sipp in a meaningful situation as an Astro last night? Guduan looked pretty solid when he was brought in with runners on the corners

Sipp has hardly been used in leverage spots already this year. Guduan looked really good but I'm still nervous about his tendency to completely lose control on occasion. But Sipp's days appear to be numbered.

Mike Minor on the Royals is interesting as well. Former LH starter converted to reliever which they've had success with. His FB is averaging 94 as a reliever vs 90 as a starter

I think Minor with KC should get a look, as well as Herrera if they are willing.

Give the White Sox a call and ask about Robertson or Swarzak.

Maybe David Phelps from Miami would be on the table.

Drew Storen will likely be available.
