I don't think the BABIP is super elevated, he's making more hard contact and his line drive % has gone up.

The K's are a little worrisome though.

That's true, he is making lots of hard contact, but he has a career .306 BABIP so that's why he really needs to work on the Ks

Why are the glasses no longer there? I must've missed it.

He was wearing them because they were on the road and he ran out of contacts.

I'm assuming since they're back home, he got more contacts.

@JimBowden_ESPN
Here are some teams that are "in" on Yulieski Gourriel: Angels, Giants, Dodgers, Mets, Yankees and Astros.

Nice. Would like to see this move. I was reading an article that said because of reservations about his age teams likely aren't going to over 3 years and 10-12MM a year. I think his bat is plenty good enough to profile him at DH (maybe move him to 1B) if they decide they want Bregman at 3B also

I honestly think the per year price could be higher though. The Mets likely go hard after him

The update on MLB Trade Rumors today estimated 4 years for 40-50 MM

Astros will not be players for gurriel. Fans need to wake up.

I mean, he could end up being a great bargain so they most certainly may want to be players for him like the report says.

Now, if you're saying they won't actually win him over? There's an argument for that.

They won't be within 20% of any if the other offers.

Didn't it come out they were second highest for Tanaka? Or am I just imagining that? I know they bid on Tanaka

The dollars won't be the issue. I bet they won't go over 3 years though.

Being competitive matters. It shows they're not bidding way below the market like you suggested

Yeah, this is a ready to win player for a ready to win team. If the Astros think this guy can play 3B or LF at a first division starter level, he's a bargain at $15 million/year or less.

If Bregman, Reed and Gourriel fill the holes at 3B, 1B and LF for the next few seasons at their expected prices, we're good to go.

Not sure about Tanaka but I'm almost certain they were second for Abreu.
