If they're gonna try Tucker at 1st they would give him an offseason to get better defensively. That would also mean they've given up on or gotten rid of Carter and Singleton. But I agree, when Jed comes back and Correa comes up, a lineup of

Springer
Altuve
Jed
Gattis
Tucker
Correa
Singleton
Castro
Marisnick

Would be very nice

Tucker in the three hole

Good, tired of Luis' pop ups with RISP. This year has been great no doubt but I can't wait to see what the lineup looks like next year.

C Castro
1B Singleton
2B Altuve
SS Correa
3B Jed
OF Marisnick
OF Tucker
OF Springer
DH Gattis

I just hope we can keep this up for as long as we can so when Jed is back and ready, the bats can give our arms some backup. Also, I really hope Tucker isn't a part of any trade talks the closer we get to the deadline. And speaking of trades, I think Appel, Santana & maybe a B- prospect like Moran could get Hammels, but for them to kick in cash to help pay his contract... that's when they'd demand Tucker or LMJ...

And really, the cubs, bosox and us are the only ones that have the prospects to get Hammels. Boston isn't dealing Swihart, so that limits them..... I could see the cubs packaging Baez and a couple B+ prospects and getting him depending on where they're at come the trade deadline.

Doubt it

Appel fricking blows

ETA - I would love if they made that trade

All of this. I would think McCullers is going the other way if they want Hamels.

I don't think Hamels is feasible.

Huge salary, have to give up an arm and a leg to get him.

I just have a feeling we'll deal much less for a guy like Kazmir, and that'll be what the FO probably does.

I think we'd have to give up another pitcher on top of Appel to get Hamels. Velasquez, Hader etc.

Imo getting Hamels would take 4 prospects, hopefully we can convince Philly that Appel and Santana should be 2 of them

Well their market is limited, and I'm not really all that high on Hammels. I really think the Phillies are in a position with an asset only a few teams can afford. What they SHOULD get and what they WILL get will be underwhelming based on expectation for their fanbase when the time comes.

If he begins to start stringing along a few bad starts, I don't see the Phillies turning down a package headlined by Appel, Santana and one of Moran/Valesquez/Feliz (depending on how good/bad he's playing).

What do you think we could get by offering this:

Appel
Brett Phillips
Hader
Villar/Aplin/Duffy

ETA: we could also do something with one of Presley/Grossman/Hoes as well. Slice it and dice it as you wish.

"I just have a feeling we'll deal much less for a guy like Kazmir"

I like that a lot more than selling off a quarter of the farm for a big contract.

I don't think that could get Hammels, but like I said, if he strings some bad starts together, who knows that the knee-jerk reaction by Philly would be...

It's definitely too rich for Kazmir. I like Harder too much to deal him for Kazmir.

I am fine with that. Mike Leake is another guy who will be a FA after this season (I think) and I've seen listed as likely to be traded. I wonder what it would take to get him, he's another I would be fine with

If we're going to trade for a starter, why would it be just an ordinary guy? It has to be at least a #3, because a major point of a trade would be to get someone who can help win a playoff series.

Right now, the current rotation is not bad for the regular season, if LMJ is legit. Plus, Obie is solid if the blister thing is healed (it's not like it's an elbow or shoulder problem).

But we are looking at Feldman starting Game 3 of a playoff series at the moment. And the idea of Leake isn't better. Kazmir should be the floor of any trade target, not the ceiling, or just stand pat.

Leake is a big upgrade over Feldman or Fausto IMO

Also we can't really expect McCullers to still be available come October. I think the most innings he's thrown in pro ball is 100. Asking him to throw 220-240 (including playoffs) is a little much

Oberholtzer is also a total wildcard to me. He was pretty average last year in the only thing he's had that's close to a full year

Fausto? Sure. Feldman? Not really. I don't want either starting Game 3 of a playoff series. That should be the measuring stick.

Numbers wise he is definitely better than Feldman. The Royals went to game 7 of the WS with Jason Vargas and Jeremy Guthrie in their rotation.

I looked at the numbers and the actual pitchers. Show me what he costs as a rental first.

People are clutching on to prospects tightly. I get it; we all do it. But this team can win now. And I personally like Hamels and his contract compared to what we'll end up spending in FA this winter for a TOR.

Luhnow will do something before the end of July, that much is certain.
