Tonight at 7pm at Minute Maid Park is game two of the series against the defending World Champion SF Giants.

The matchup:

Obi Wan Kenobiholtzer (First ML Start of 2015) vs. Tim Hudson (1-3 4.50 era)

George Springer makes his return tonight from the 7 day DL after a concussion

Springer returns tonight

Meanwhile the countdown for Carlos Correa's arrival in Houston continues. Here is a nice article by Evan Drellich weighing the decision of when to bring up El Capitan.

If we don't get more than 2 fricking hits tonight I'm gonna be pissed. Especially against this bag of dirt.

ETA: At this point I thing vogelshit would throw a 1 hitter against us.

Pretty simple in my mind, you just have to wait an see how he hits in Trips. I'm no GM, obviously, but if you think this guy is "Face of the Franchise" level, you don't worry about the money.

its going to be tough if guys don't start having better ABs. the loss of Lowrie is huge. he was one of the few guys who could carry a major league approach at the plate into every AB. for the next couple of months we have to find ways to grind out wins and play .500 ball until Correa, Lowrie and potentially some Starting Pitching help comes along. Lunhow has to be working the phones at this point to try to see what deals may be out there.

We all knew this lack of offensive production was coming. Hopefully we snap out of it pretty soon before we lose all of the ground that we gained.

the troubling part is they are getting torn down by mediocre and flat out bad starting pitchers for the most part. Other than Garrett Richards most of the losses have been against shitty guys like Wandy and Detwieller, that crappy little lefty on the angels too.

Has anyone seen any recent reports or Luhnow comments about McCullers? He is dominating the Texas league on the mound about as much as Correa was at the plate. Maybe he has a better chance of sticking in the rotation than originally thought?

I think LMJ looks like a prime trade chip right now along with Tucker and possibly Singleton/Hader

You've also got two pretty decent 3b's in Corpus - Moran and White. One of those will be traded. Unless they decide one is a DH, but neither are showing much power yet.

Moran has no power. very similar to the 1b they drafted from VAndy in the same draft as Kemp…conrad Gregor. good contact hitter with good approach but no pop.

I still can't figure out why everyone just assumed he was going to end up in the pen.

The reason is the same they say that about Fulmer from Vandy. Scouts think his mechanics will break him down. Both can definitely make it as starters with their stuff and pitch mix.

In May:

Marisnick 8-37 (.216)
Valbuena 6-39 (.154)
Altuve 9-39 (.231)
Gattis 8-39 (.205)
Rasmus 6-32 (.188)
Castro 7-26 (.269)
Carter 4-34 (.118, 17 Ks)

So its been a team wide funk for 2 weeks now, not just a few select players.

The bad thing is those numbers may be better than April's for a couple of those guys.
