Oberholtzer to be activated and will start Wednesday vs SF.

Jabroni will move up to the 3rd rotation spot and will start Tuesday vs. SF.

Also, Luke Gregerson expected to be back in the bullpen on Tuesday.

George Springer expected to be back with the club by Wednesday.

So if you're counting along at home, that's 3 moves we'll have to make.

Chapman
Grossman
Wojo

All should be sent down most likely.

You don't think Tucker will get sent back down so he can get regular ABs?

If you look at Tucker vs Grossman, it's really a no brainer as to who to keep.

They will utilize Tucker at DH more like they did yesterday.

Haven't seen the games..but I see that Tucker is batting .100.One hit in 10 At bats. Two k's and 3 walks, OBP at .357. But to those that have watched, is he making solid contact? Good approach ?

Marwin is a good bench player.

It's Villar that isn't cutting it

Yea he would have to be getting the start over rasmus and gattis so he would be barely getting 2 start a week, I thinks it's safe to see he will be sent down.

Houston, We Have a Pulse: 10 Stats That Explain the Astros’ Resurgence

I posted this over the weekend and it got buried in the game thread, Really a great read on the club so far, goes into the analytics of what we are doing well.

quote:

89.6

The Astros’ average fastball velocity, in miles per hour — the slowest of any team.

quote:

86.9

The average velocity, in miles per hour, of the batted balls the Astros have allowed — the second-lowest of any staff.

quote:

73.9

The percentage of balls in play that the Astros convert into outs, otherwise known as Defensive Efficiency. Last year, the Astros turned 70.1 percent of batted balls into outs, the 19th-best percentage in the majors. Their rate this year ranks fifth, which gives them the biggest increase of any team.

quote:

54

The Houston bullpen’s ERA-, a park- and league-adjusted version of ERA in which 100 is average and below is better. Last year, the Astros had the worst bullpen in baseball by ERA- (126), and one of the worst by any alternative metric; only five other bullpens during the wild-card era have been worse.

quote:

The worst bullpen of the past 20 years belonged to the 2007 Devil Rays, who won 66 games. The 2008 Rays, with an above-average bullpen and a way higher Defensive Efficiency, won 97 games and a pennant. The Astros’ overhaul isn’t going to work that well, because that was the kind of comeback that people write books about. But if it works half as well, the Astros could end up with a wild card.

For real though I'm pretty sure it's probably just moving up to AAA. Luhnow said last week he would be moving there soon.

One would assume Tucker does get sent down but there is a chance that it's Grossman. George will be back (can play CF/RF) and Rasmus can play anywhere in the OF. Plus, Villar can play anywhere but catcher. So, Grossman's ability to play all OF spots means little with that crap bat of his.

If only to give Tucker a few more days in the bigs for starts (rotate days off for Jake, Colby and Gattis to keep Tucker in the lineup), Preston may not go back down this week.

Outside of Carlos getting called up, this is the only thing that makes sense. So it probably won't happen either.

Personnaly, I'd like to see Bob get punted and the $8million Mullet take over Bob's bench role. Give Tucker the everyday spot in Left.

Then trade Carter for a case of cat food and find, call up Carlos, move MarGo to first.

I can't agree with the second and third parts. I kind of like the way Rasmus has been playing, and he has to be 10X better defensively than Tucker.
