I admittedly don't understand Sabremetric analytics that put guys like Springer and Schwarber in the leadoff spot. For a guy like Springer that can cover the kind of ground he does in the outfield and with the kind of OBP he has, how is it possible he could go a full year w 9 of 19 on SB attempts, and strike out 200 times?

I get that Springer obviously is missing the intangibles to steal a base, and I get that his OBP ranks up their w the best, but when the final result is that you get thrown out more times than not and you hardly ever even attempt a steal, how does that make you a leadoff hitter?
