CTH/TexSR: Before you went to winter ball, there was some talk about you playing catcher. What happened with that?

White: I went to an instructional league for about a week and a half, ten days or maybe longer, I caught and did some drills, worked out in Kissimmee. I did pretty well at it, but I think for right now, we are going to hold off and stick to the corners for now. I did some stuff in the Dominican, but mostly just catching at the end of the game. It’s something I think I can do, but we are going to hold off right now.

That signals that the Astros want his bat in the majors rather than keep him in the minors working/learning behind the plate.

I tried searching during winter ball. Couldn't find anything on the reps he took at catcher. Would love to have bat like that be able to sit behind home plate, but I think Gattis would be the guy in a case like that.

While we're on the subject of catcher, it sure would be nice to make a deal for Lucroy.... but I'm sure if he rakes in spring training they'll be asking for something astronomical like f'ing bregman + Daz or Tucker with a guy like musgrove thrown in... F that noise

Yeah, I'm thinking he's the first to come up if Singleton continues his crappy play. Valbueno/White/Gonzales trio to man the corners.

I can't wait for this season to start.

ETA: forgot about Duffy. Not sure where he fits.

Rasmus on this upcoming season

In here for this season. Mostly lurked last year. I live in Nola and have no way to watch the games so I follow on here a lot. Big expectations for the Stro's this year, can't wait for them to get started.

On that subject, what's the deal with MLBtv this year? A month or so ago I hear that we're gonna be able to pay a little extra to get around the blackouts, now I'm hearing that's not the case

Great article by Drellich on Rasmus.

Also had video of Tyler white taking ground balls at 1b from Hinch. He was not wearing the crown.

I assume AJ Reed has the crown on lockdown.

I long to see that man shirtless, covered in champagne, with goggles on.
