Every random shot I saw in the Rangers dugout had hitters looking at their pads, presumably studying our pitchers

I never saw that in our dugout. Not that it didn’t happen. I just never saw it.

I think our players are more dedicated to their craft on the road, when not bothered by the attention that comes with playing in 4 WS and winning 2 of them.

The motivation, the edge, is just not there. One of the youngest has MVPs and a ring. Old hat for the senior members of the core.

I mean, it’s not a mystery as to why no one wins back to back. Losing to Braves left them hungry. Beat the Phillies. Phillies lost to Astros, left them hungry.

I don’t follow the Astros’ farm club or day to day activities during the regular season. I know Jose Altuve was hurt for a time this season. Only winning 90 regular season games this year, are the Astros getting too old ? Is the team in a downward cycle where we had our hay day and it’s likely we will be rebuilding in the next 2-3 seasons ?

Again I don’t follow the organization and the draft but it’s great that the Astros win only 53 games about 8 or 9 years ago and then went to the WS and won twice.

The scandal embarrassed him and he's gone out of his way to beg forgiveness. I think he'd really like to be that fun and crazy guy, but Reagan took his balls away from him.

The Astros and Rangers are a wild case of what could have been. With the Astros we have an absurd home record, with the Rangers you have an absurd record in extra innings and extreme variance in relief pitching.

The Astros won the division with 90 games. And yet for that to happen the Rangers lost an MVP caliber player for 40 games, a player that was the early ROY favorite for 6 weeks, an #1 SP, multiple guys in the rotation going down for extended periods, multiple injuries in the pen and extreme “bad” luck in most late game statistics that are considered random.

So are the Astros bad? The Rangers actually good? Are both teams snakebit? Is is a huge mix of each?

When the playoffs started my view was that if Texas could get their team to the division series and get some luck health-wise they were a coin flip to go to the WS. Unlike the other teams in the AL playoffs they are actually getting impact guys back as they move deeper into the playoffs and those guys are making so that the questionable part of the bullpen are getting replaced with guys that went multiple innings as starters to get them to the playoffs.

Texas was the best offense in the AL and with the addition of Carter has made the lineup that much scarier. They have power and work counts. Combine that with a WAY better defense than was advertised and it is understandable to see why the Astros are struggling with them.

No offense to the Rangers, but the Astros are struggling with themselves. The Rangers also have a clear advantage at the manager position. Other than that, these teams are pretty evenly matched. The Astros could go into Arlington and sweep them or they could lose the next 2 and get swept. There is literally no in between this year with this Jeckyl and Hyde offense. If the Rangers continue to play reasonably well they will probably be WS bound, unfortunately. Whoever gets there is going to hit a buzzsaw with the Phillies though. They seem to be firing on all cylanders.

I want some mother frickers with a mean streak in em. Not a afraid to piss somebody off. Guy that shows up at the ballpark pissed off because the other team is trying to keep him from winning. Guy that hits a home run and stares a guy down around the bases.

Altuve
Tucker
Alvarez
Abreu
Brantley
Pena

All are like the chillest, nicest dudes ever. We don't play with much fire.

It's a shame Neris isn't a batter. He fits the description perfectly.

1 man offense. When he strikes out 3 times, we get shut out.

Yesterday was a perfect example of why they say you don't get beat by single run homers. If we had anyone on base when Yordan hit them, we win.
