I don't know how they're gonna keep Wojo from making the club. Dude has been lights out all spring.

What is the word on Oberholtzer? If he starts on the DL I imagine Wojo def starts on the 25 man roster

Correa and Conger go back to back

Maybe we should start a thread about it while we compare those to Mantle and Berra?

Agreed. He's been the best pitcher this spring.

Ya know what sucks?

This lineup is amazing right now with Correa in it. And he's red hot at the plate.

Too bad they won't give him an honest chance to make the roster yet

Yeah a part of me is just so ready to see Correa that I want to say throw him in there and see what he can do. He's looked really good this spring.

I know he won't make the roster this season though. Lowrie was brought in as a stop gap for Correa to come in next season.

Lowrie was a good move because he's flexible enough to play elsewhere next year once Correa is up. There will be the same scenario next year like the Cubs have with Bryant where they wait to gain an extra year of control, but Lowrie can be kind of a super sub after that filling in at 2B SS and 3B when needed. They could deal him as well if he has a big year

I've only been able to watch two games this Spring with him in the line up. One game he looked ready. The other game he really looked over-matched at the plate.

I'm okay with not rushing him. I mean, it's not like he's Kris Bryant or anything.

ETA: just noticed that tomorrow's matchup is Cosart Vs. Keuchal. Too bad it won't be on ROOT.

If he continues to tear it up once he's sent down and the Astros are competitive for a playoff spot I hope they consider bringing him up later this year. At a certain point if you are in the hunt for the postseason and he's better than what you have at the major league level you need to bring him up. I'm not confident they would do that though, which is one thing that does frustrate me about this front office

I don't think you see Correa in the big leagues this year until maybe September call ups. If Lowrie gets hurt I think you'll see Villar or Marwin there. CC has not even done a half season of work at the AA level yet. I think after this season he's ready for the show and ready to become the astros SS for the next 15 years.

That's one thing I hate about baseball is all the arbitration crap. To me if a player is ready for the bigs and better than what you currently have at the position, then bring him up and let him further develop to actual major league competition.

I'm afraid with Correa we'll get another Springer situation where they hold him down because of arbitration.

I think Correa has a better shot to stay in Houston for his career than Springer. I think ultimately, Springer ends up with the Yankees. Considering where he's from etc etc.

Just a random, no reason for it, thought.

I'm really interested to see how Luhnow approaches the Springer and Correa contracts once they establish themselves as major leaguers.

Also I love Springer and think he's going to be very good, but I have bigger hopes for Correa. I just think he's a little bit more complete as a player if he meets the expectations.

Well he already tried to lock Springer in early on a deal that would have heavily favored the astros given Springer's potential…Springer bet on himself and didn't take it. I hope that doesn't leave a bad taste in his mouth when he becomes a free agent. I think it is imperative to try to lock up Springer and Correa long term. those guys are premium players at premium positions and are bonafied stars that will put butts in seats for many years.
