I completely grasp the concept of a rebuild. The rebuild means they are going to deliberately lose for several seasons. I'm not even saying that it was the wrong thing per se...but it was a clear signal to fans that they weren't trying to compete or even field respectable major league lineup until a later date. I'm fine with that...but my money will also be withheld until a later date...doesn't make anyone a bandwagon fan for feeling that way.

Fresno Grizzlies are going to give away 2017 World Series rings.

They were the AAA franchise for the Giants recent world series teams so maybe they're the lucky piece.

Went to the game yesterday. Pitching was not impressive. Plenty of Braves fans there, so Gattis' jack was doubly nice. First time seeing Singleton live, man, that dude does not get cheated at the plate.

Was sitting in the first row down the third base line behind the Astros bullpen, my little girl got a foul ball. Best thing I saw all day? Bo Porter in a Braves uni coaching third.

ETA: Correa looks like a stud.

More of this is needed in this thread.

ETA: What do the Astros do with Hoyt? He's been money this Spring. I know he's a long shot, but does he make the club or get sent to Fresno? If he makes the club, what reliever gets sent down? Sipp? Fields?

I'm going to repost my legit question from the last page

Does everyone see the position players part of the roster shaking out like below? I haven't looked at the pitchers especially since Fields got hurt, but feel free to add that in as well. I am going to assume they will be carrying 12 pitchers and 13 position players

C (2)
Castro
Conger

IF (6)
Carter
Singleton
Altuve
Lowrie
Valbuena
Gonzalez

OF (5)
Springer
Rasmus
Marisnick
Gattis (could probably be listed as IF as well)
Grossman or Presley

Your list is pretty much how I see it. Grossman gets in over Pressley.

I was thinking Rasmus gets sent packing early. But then I looked at his stats... 21 ABs, 5 hits, 3K's... 9 walks?!?

So, he's not hitting, but he's getting on base. I'll be okay with that kind of productivity for awhile. I just think $8mil is too much.

I think so too. Presley is out of options so I've read some people thinking he's a lock, but I don't see us having a problem throwing him on waivers unless they want Grossman playing everyday

The 8 mil is probably why they're gonna give him some time to figure it out if he does struggle. He's pretty solid defensively. I think he ends up sharing some at bats honestly between Gattis, Grossman and Marisnick taking them. As Gunslinger said earlier I see a lot of platoon and time shares possible with the flexibility from certain guys

You know, early on in camp i thought that if Singleton made it, Marisnick would be the odd man out, just so he could get consistant at bats at AAA. We all know he's a stud in the OF but will he hit? Its not looking like that though with Rasmus still playing LF so I don't have a clue how they're gonna plattoon that outfield.

Ryno is right. I mean I may have gone to a few games while they were losing 100+ if we lived here. But spending about 40-50 on tickets to see them lose everytime you go? You're insane. We definitely didn't make the trek from Louisiana those few years. I still followed the team and listened on the radio and watched on tv (if I could)

Nothing beats the, who is a real Astros fan and who are the bandwagon fan thread right around springers call up.

Completely agree, Astros our my favorite pro team.(Astros>rockets>Texans) however when they decided to check out for a few years it became increasingly hard to keep up. Plus moving away for school and now work made it harder but I will be able to watch game here now.

I'm not debating the point on spending money to watch them play. I had a hard time watching them too and didn't spend much money to go watch them play the last 3-4 years. Hell, I'm pretty sure Ryno has been to more games than I have in the last few years.

I don't agree with his definition and usage of "deliberate."

Gattis has been banged up here lately so it may not be a difficult decision

I have been to one game in person in the last 3 years. I will probably go to a few this season including opening night...now that they are making a shift to become competitive at the ML level I will make an effort to be at moRe games. I hope we can establish ourselves as a consistent competitor. For years to come. Would love to enjoy a world championship with my kids.

If I could pick one Houston team to win a title it would for sure be the Astros. I am 26 so during my formative years as a sports fan growing up in Houston (98-07ish) they were easily the best team in town.

I also just don't give much of a shite about attending Rockets or Texans games. NFL games are better on TV and the tailgating scene for them is typically a trash festival. The only Rockets games I go to are for work when I get offered tickets. I like all the Houston teams but the Astros are easily my favorite

They are the only Houston team I root for. I don't watch basketball at all and I grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan because my mom was one. Been an Astros fan for over 30 years.

I am a year younger and The Texans are the only Houston team that I couldn't care less about.

the Astros and rockets are pretty much the same in my book. Grew up going to a few games a month to each (a perk of my parents sending me to fancy school). The main reason I rather a World Series is because I think it is harder to get and we were so close(but so far). Even though I am a bigger basketball fan
