Well, flush that season down the toilet.

Although, after that terrible April, to finish with 84 wins considering we added zero reinforcements at the deadline, not all in all terrible.

Keep all offseason news and discussion in this thread please.

Full coaching staff returning next year.

Luhnow says 1B, C, OF all positions to be evaluated & potentially addressed. Also would love to add a high caliber starter.

Top end starter is a must if we want to contend, imo.

Your owner is cheap as hell. You guys should offer Edwin E a ton of money, maybe Ian Desmond but you won't

Devenski 4-4 with a 2.16 ERA this year.

Tip of the cap to this young man.

It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

maybe Ian Desmond

Desmond had two good months that totally propped up his 2016. Hit like .350 in May/June. He's hit .237/.283 in the 2nd half. Plus he hit .330 at the launchpad in Arlington vs .240 on the road.

The last "upgrade" this offense needs is another guy hitting .240 with 180 strikeouts.

I wouldn't mind Encarnacion for DH/1B.

Springer
Bregman
Altuve
Correa
Encarnacion
Gurriel

Would be a solid 1-6, Although all RH bats.

I really want Andrew McCutchen. It's been reported that the Pirates will look into trading him this off season. Even with his "down" year by his standards, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Problem is he's a relative bargain. Signed for 2 more years at $14 million and $14.75 million. Put that on top of a shitty crop of free agent outfielders and there's gonna be high demand for him. Plus, given that he's a fan favorite in Pittsburgh they'd just as soon hold on to him if they're not blown away.

Luhnow has certainly missed on most of his big trades. But we've got a roster that should have its sights set high going into next year. But it's got some holes that need to be filled and this class of free agents isn't going to help much. If we're going to add an impact bat or a ToR starter, we're going to have to dip into the prospects.

What do we do in the OF. Assuming Rasmus is gone and Bregman/Yuli will be at 3B/DH. Do you give Teoscar an everyday spot?

I would rather use prospects to deal for a SP than McCutchen but he is intriguing

I wonder if the Sox would be open to trading Jose Abreu.

Trade for Abreu, sign Cespedes if he opts out, sign Little Yogi, lure Aroldis. All the Cubans belong to us.

Do these things and they'll prevent us from resigning Castro. Because you know...

Sounds like he's being a bitch. Some Astros fan must have slept with his wife.
