Everyone here criticizing Ainge is clueless. Ainge was offering too much for PG if anything.
Wait. We're clueless for criticizing Ainge, but then you follow that statement up with one criticizing Ainge?

Good god u are a dumbass. Congrats. People are scared shitkess of DA fleecing them like he did Brooklyn. F em. let them take crappier deal from
OKC out of spite. Weee aren't going anywhere. We will develop Jaylen brown and Tatum whilst still battling with isiah and al horford. We will make a huge trade when it is right. Maybe for Anthony Davis. For now hopefullybwe get Hayward in FA.

Yeah DA is terrible. He's only the 4th ranked best GM in the association. Lol.

I don't get this mentality. If you're making a trade that will drop you down the conference standings to near the bottom, who cares where the guy goes?

So Jimmy Butler and Paul George, 2 All-Star players and 2 of the most well-rounded players in the league, were both traded for far less value than they were worth to teams that are not major contenders (especially Minny). And somehow, Boston, with far more value to offer in return, and own of the historically great franchises (which I'm sure Butler and George would have supported being traded to), couldn't get them?

Wasn't the issue that BOS doing the deal now takes them out of the Hayward running?

So they wanted to hopefully land Hayward, then make the trade to get both?

Well then that would completely refute the article since they apparently tried to get a deal done now.

You do understand that there were the offers for PG at the trade deadline when it was still unknown if PG would consider re-signing with Indy and now the offers for PG after he told Indy he would no re-sign with them.

The circumstances (and their corresponding offers) are far different.

The Celtics couldn't do a deal for PG until after the Hayward decision. They need the cap space to sign Hayward

Hayward meets Miami today, Boston tmrw and Utah on Monday then he makes a decision. "Now" is relative, Indy couldn't wait four days?

Yet, the article says that they sure tried and failed. I'm skeptical of the article and its spin, but just to make it clear, you are saying the article is completely false?

The way I understand the sequence is Ainge made an offer in February at the trade deadline that was rejected, he made a lesser offer at the draft that was rejected and he told them he would make a lesser trade offer after the Hayward decision but Indy pulled the trigger with OKC

My guess is Indy knew the Celtcs offers were only getting worse and didn't want to wait any longer. What is more telling is the LAL dropping out of the PG talks.

Are you people serious? Ainge has Boston sitting pretty. I think Brown is going to be really good and Tatum is ready to go right now scoring the basketball. They bring back a really good squad with a ton of assets for next year's free agent bonanza. If you get Heyward what the hell is wrong with building through the draft and seeing if you can make a good deal for someone next year? The same people are singing the praises of the Sixers who I don't think are going to amount to anything due to they have serious injury concerns with Embiid, Fulz (hurt a lot at UW) and Simmons (big man with an early foot injury is not good). I guess we'll see but I sure wish the Pelicans looked like the Celtics.
