NFL is taking away millions of dolllar of salary-cap space from Cowboys and Redskins for how they front-loaded deals during uncapped year.

Cowboys lose $10 million in cap space, Redskins lose $36 million in space. Can split it over 2012 and 2013 any way they want. More at ESPN.
quote:
All that money goes to 28 other teams -- $1.6 million each -- except for Saints and Raiders, who don't get any but don't lose any.

This. I like the Cowboys, but even from a neutral standpoint, that is just idiotic and I hope Jones and Snyder fight this (which they undoubtedly will).
If there is no rule that states anything about it, then you have to let it go.

I thought both would sign a lot of free agents during the uncapped year, but I don't remember either signing a big name. In fact, the Cowboys cut several veterans.

They should lose draft picks and face suspensions for such blatant cheating

we have to ask ourselves, what was the intent behind these signings? Were trying intending to harm or to not harm by signing these guys to front loaded deals?

that is total bullshite.
punish the owners who were willing to spend when it was totally legal to do so?

agree completely
you can't make up rules fairly after the fact

Saw something regarding this on PFT and was going to start a topic.
How can you punish a team for doing what is allowed when there is no salary cap due to the CBA that the NFL agreed to? Even a directive from the league office would seem to pale in comparison to the rules regarding an uncapped year since I'd assume that the CBA would trump the league.
It's stupid to penalize teams for using the available rules to their advantage no matter what the league office wants. Especially when the league directing the teams to not give the players more money certainly seems like collusion.
It won't only be the Redskins and Cowboys that get hit though. Apparently Julius Peppers would have had a 34 million dollar cap figure last year compared to the 13 million he had this year.

Yet the Bears supposedly paid $20 million in base salary to Julius Peppers in 2010 and I don't see anything about them . . . yet.
Way to kill excitement Goodell. I was getting pumped to see what would happen tomorrow but not now.
