uh yes. he backed him down, pressured him, threw more punches and won by stoppage. Did you not see the fight.

Fight changed in the 6th/7th round when Margarito's pressure started to break through...It was just constant and wore Cotto down. I had Cotto up by 1-2 rounds in the fight actually based on points but Margarito made Cotto quit...

Get ready for the De la Hoya vs. Margarito fight hype...then, Mayweather will win it all again regardless...

Uh no. Cotto throw more punches, but Margarito's punches were a lot more effective. By the 5th round Cotto was gassed.

I really don't think that's going to happen quite yet.

I normally agree with your boxing knowledge but I feel Mayweather ducked him more because of finances than fear of defeat. Margarito now poses an enormous payday as well as legacy which may attract Floyd. I also believe FM would defeat him because he would not fade like Cotto.

no. considering margarito's camp offered mayweather 8 mil, which would have been his biggest payday ever at that time...mayweather ducked margarito b/c he was scared. margarito would destroy mayweather. anyone who can take all those shots from cotto and cintron can't be hurt

i think if cotto would have won, floyd would have come out of retirement to fight him...his last fight...to secure his legacy. after seeing margarito, mayweather will not fight him...ever.

By the way Margarito threw 900 plus punches and Cotto threw 600 plus

Margarito is definitely a fighter to watch. Seeing his last 3 fights now, he sure does love to play possum for at least 5-6 rounds and then turns it on.

The guy's chin is solid as can be. I wouldn't be too surprised if De La Hoya turns him down saying something along the lines that he wouldn't want his last fight to be against a fellow Mexican.

Paul freaking Williams beat Margarito heads up (match up problem) so don't tell me Mayweather couldn't. Margarito is not unbeatable by any means even though I'd pull for Margarito in the fight.
Hell, if Cotto was in better shape he could have won the fight last night. Mayweather wouldn't have faded so much in the 7th - 11th rounds as much as I hate to say it. I really want somebody to beat Mayweather - I don't believe you're a "great" fighter until you've answered a bell beat up...

did you watch that fight? margarito started pressuring him too late and williams had already won the 1st half of the fight on points. williams came close to being knocked down in the last half and got beat up, but toughed it out and was ahead on points. you're acting like williams beat up margarito, which wasn't the case. i'd pick margarito to win on a rematch

Mayweather wouldn't be able to run from Margarito, and those weak-arse punches FMjr throws wouldn't phase him either. The fight everyone wants to see besides the rematch of this fight is margarito vs oscar, but i don't think Oscar wants to go out a loser. I think a rematch with P-dub would be an entertaining fight.

vorenus 23 - who did you have up on points going into the 11th last night? I had Cotto because of the number of points he had racked up early...the fight cøuld have easily been a repeat of Margarito/Williams if Cotto hadn't stopped circling. The judges at that point did have Margarito up based on aggression I guess because Cotto was landing the cleaner punches on counters for the majority of the fight. I would love to see Margarito/Mayweather and would pull for the mexican to wear his his conceded arse out, just don't know if it would happen...

i had it a draw. in the late rounds that cotto landed the more solid shots, i still gave the round to margarito b/c he was obviously wearing him down and pushing him backward. Margarito/Mayweather will never happen. Mayweather retired so he could cherry pick his opponents and avoid people like margarito
